hey, im an XTL user and my friend bought an X3 and needed help.
He has a gig tonight and I figured the ins and outs and everything and he made patches he liked, but he need to have one saved patch layered with another.
how can I do this?
so say I want to move tone 1 from 24A to tone 2 in 24B
Saving requires two presses of the Press To Save button. On the first press, you can select what preset to save it to (in your case 24B) by twisting the Press To Save button. Then in the lower left of the screen, you can pick whether to save it to Tone 1 or Tone 2. There are four knobs at the bottom of the screen. Twist the far left one to pick tone 1 or Tone 2. Then press Press To Save again. See page 4-10 of the manual if he has one.
I am having trouble with this also. When I do the above steps, it always seems to drag Tone 1 AND Tone 2 to the new patch. How do I bring tone one only?
The easiest way is to use GearBox but you can do it manually. Here is method posted by ClassicalDad quite a while back that is pretty easy to do...
To Copy Tone1 to Tone2, when Tone1 has been manually entered
- press and hold the Tone2/Dual button to get Dual Tones with the "empty" User patch into Tone 2
- rotate the second dial from the left two clicks clockwise to change "->1+2" to "->2"
- rotate the Save button to find the original Tone1 to copy into the new empty Tone2. Sometimes this takes just one left and one right click; sometimes it goes to User 1A and you'll need over 100 clicks to get up to the high numbered banks again. I wonder why the scrolling doesn't wrap? If the name is not unique, you might not find the right one.
