PODxt Pro + Marshall AVT 150 combo..

Hey there,
I've been trying hard to get a good sound of the PODxt Pro connected to the front input of a Marshall AVT 150 combo. I've tried several settings (with tone correction), including one that was posted here for the AVT 100, which was lows 76% focus 580hz highs 54%, output at 9 o'clock.. and with my amp on clean, gain 50%, volume 50%, lows 0%, mids 100%, highs 0%, presence 0%..
Can anyone guide me in a better direction? I'm looking for a clean, sharp sound like plugging my guitar into the PODxt and listening through headphones or connected to my studio mixer.. or plugging the guitar directly into the Marshall amp.
Thanks.
Andrew
hi man im sorry for you're problem but guess what i think every one that own's a marshall avt with the pod xt has the same problem. i myselfe have the marshal avt150h with a mitchell 410mlt cab and i had the same problem as you but after modding the cab i like the sound. i took the handle cover of to mimic the open back cabs for my cab was to bassy and the stuffing i pulled it out and presto. now my problem was that my sound was way tu muddy and weird.
now im using the ibanez rg 350 ex with stock inf pickups.
now im not telling you to modd you're cab but i would tell you to experiment. also i thinck that my cab made my clean sound terible. but at the end im getting rid of my marshall and looking for a full tube amp.
also tweak the presets conected to the amp to get the feel of the soud you're looking for.
how good are you with creating you're presets? for if you aren't then you need to spend time leardning that craft first.
well i dont know i was of help or not but here's my email for any questions
Hi Andrew,
I hope this is helpful, I've got a Marshall AVT150 combo and use a POD XT Live, which is obviously different to your XT Pro. However, I've found that I get the best results from routing the POD XT Live into the Effects Return socket (rather than the front) and adjusting the POD XT Live selection to "Power Amp Combo". You do lose the Marshall sound that emanates from using the whole of the available signal path in the amp, but you can compensate with a judicious amp selection from the POD and tweaking it. I use a '73 Tele, so my EQ settings may not be fit for your purposes - and I find that I need to modify them for each gig anyway, but, overall, this approach means that I'm not "stacking" preamps and thus simplifies the EQ, which I set via the POD XT Live.

good advise man but one question to you. did you tried to run the xt live trough the send return of the amp? and what was the result? in my case i did that but the result was terrible for when i got hard on the pick i would get the clean sound of the amp to come forth and the xt's effects or sound go to the backround. we did a gig and recorded the whole thing and man was i upset for i thought that it was just me (oh forgot to tell you that at that time i was using the line out of the amp) but after listening to the recording i got so discuraged with the marshall amp that i decided to get rid of it.
Hiya,
Thanks. No, sorry if I was a bit confusing, but my signal path is guitar --> POD XT Live --> Effects Return socket on Marshall AVT 150. The Effects Send socket is not used, neither is the guitar input socket on the amp (unless I plug the acoustic in there directly).
Also, if we are going out to a desk, then I use the Emulated Line Out on the amp to do that. Keeps everything sort of "contained", if you know what I mean.
Best of luck with it. ![]()
