OK some more time spent on this and I now have a result.

Record was not seeing the UX1 because it was patched into a USB Hub, now it is patched straight into my Mac Record launches fine and sees the amps, cabs and pre-amps. Although rather disappointingly it does not see the effects devices which means the FX Junkie pack that came with it is useless.

There is still a very annoying hum on the right monitor and less so on the left, not however on the headphone socket. This leads me to think although it could be a fault on the UX1 it could equally be due to the leads passing near power supplies. Odd it did not occur with the Alpha as the leads have not been moved.

Still very annoyed the Lexicon Alpha is dead, even if I was not able to have used the two in tandem or the UX1 as a dongle for the amps; I could have at least eBayed it.

Please Line 6 include some kind of installation instructions in the retail packaging. By the way I have never had a piece of equipment be so difficult to install and get working as this.

I have attached a screen grab of the Monkey software that shows the various versions of drivers installed, they should be up to date as this was only installed on Sunday.

The stall I found was indeed due to the UX1 being plugged into my Belkin hub, I have swapped around my leads and it is now directly into one of my iMac ports. Interestedly it worked fine as a sound card for Reason, Recycle and iTunes this way. It seemed to stall whilst Record was searching for the additional tone files on boot up.

In hindsight I should have realised that the UX1 would install as a sound card by default, and I think during the first Record crash audio or something was routed through the drivers into my Lexicon Alpha. That  has indeed resulted in killing it, I should have thought head and removed it first.

So I think I am up and running, there is a little noise in the system but I am willing to put that down to my present audio cable routing (especially as the UX1 has had glowing reviews in this quarter).

Is there any advise you can give to other users if they are considering sticking with their present audio cards and using UX1 or similar for the on board tones only. Or is this not possible?

I guess in hindsight I should have gone for the iLok option as I already had a Audio Interface. However I get what you mean regarding the UX1 as it interfaces with Pod Farm in a way a third party AI cannot, especially whilst recording and monitoring.
