Hi, All...
I would appreciate some help in the basics of getting this setup with my PC.
Initially I want to get the software installed, so I can record from a mic & a guitar
Ive just bought a 'Toneport KB37' and it came with software: Live Lite 5 Rev:C + Gearbox V3 Rev:E
Ive downloaded the (following) only .pdf manuals, that seem to relate to the Toneport,
but they dont seem to explain what I need to do first ????
POD Studio & TonePort MIDI Setup Guide (Rev B) - English.pdf
MIDI Continuous Controller Reference (Rev E) - English.pdf
Hoping you can help.
Many thanks
Hi,
That software is outdated. Please download this bundled installer (GearBox 3.70) here: http://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=2423
It will install the USB drivers, Monkey and GearBox applications. The CD's version may not install on a newer Vista computers.
Regards,
L6Perry
First: Todate, I must say that Im not overly impressed with the clarity of the resources from Line 6,
or of their basic help in buying, setting up, or using their products.
Masses of info, but no coherent way of knowing how to use it !
As I'd received no help from Line 6, I went ahead blind, and used the Gearbox V3 CD to install.
Line6Perry:
Thanks for finally replying with your previous comment & link... However...
When I try to install V3.7...
The GearBoxInstaller says that: A Gearbox plugin must be purchased and activated in order to function.
Launch Line 6 Monkey with your Line 6 device connected to determine if plug-in functionality has
been purchased or activated for your device.
In Line 6 Monkey, under Updates: A yellow warning triangle, states that I have V3 installed & V3.7 is the latest version.
Highlighting this, the 'help & Info message' says:
Clicking the 'Update Selection' button will bring you to a web page containing a download link for this update.
This version of GearBox adds support for GX, UX1, UX2 and POD X3 Pro. We recommend
this version of GearBox for use with POD Farm 1.0
This single installer includes a complete software package for GuitarPort, TonePort, PODxt
and POD X3 devices. It includes the GearBox application (v3.70), device drivers (v3.4.2.9)
for all supported devices, the Line 6 Monkey intelligent updater (v1.26) and Control Panel
(v3.47).
See the GearBox manual page for step-by-step installation instructions and detailed setup
info for use with many recording applications.
For owners of eligible Line 6 hardware - other than TonePort DI Silver or Gold Plug-in
Bundle or TonePort UX8 - plug-in processing requires the purchase and activation of a
license from the Line 6 Online Store.
SO IM STILL NON THE WISER !
CAN I INSTALL V3.7 WITHOUT PURCHASING A PLUGIN ?
IF NOT, WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY EXTRA FOR A PLUGIN ?
Some clarity would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
As you have not registered your product or completed your support profile, we can provide limited support at this time. You do not need to purchase the gearbox plugin (which is no longer available). If you want to use a plugin for use is a recording application you can purchase the POD Farm plugin at the following link:

Line6Andy: Thank you for your info, however...
Can you please clarify...
Do I need to download GearBox 3.70 again ?
Your 2nd link, appears to be for: GearBox 3.70
ie, the same version that Ive allready downloaded and was trying to install,
that says it needs a plugin that you say is no longer available.
If this is the case, if I install the copy (of GearBox 3.70) that I allready have,
(which Line6Perry recommeneded I should install, and I was asking about in my last msg)
I presume it will replace the V3 that Ive allready installed.
So considering that it says it needs a plugin (thats no longer availble) will V3.70 run ok without the plugin ?
Or is your link for version of 3.70 different in some way ?
Thanks
I still need clarification please.
Line6Andy or Line6Perry or Anyone !!!
Hello,
I'll try to make this as simple as I can.
1. Download Gearbox version 3.7 from our downloads page. The version you received is old and you need to update it.
2. Once Gearbox has been downloaded and installed launch it. You mentioned you'd like to record guitar and vocals at once right? If so, please read this FAQ. It outlines in detail how to set this up with Ableton Live.
http://line6.com/community/docs/DOC-4401
3. In regards to the plug in. Gearbox plug in has been discontinued. It was never sold as a bundle with the older TonePorts like the one you have. It was a separate product and therefore required a separate purchase. Now, if you want to use Gearbox as a plug in then what you should do is download POD Farm 1.11 instead of Gearbox 3.70. The stand alone app is a free download on our software downloads page but you still have to pay for the plug in.
Here's a good video tutorial on what the differences are between the POD Farm stand alone app and POD Farm as a plug in.

Hello Line6Miller.
Thank you for your reply...
I will try to make this as simple as I can !
I've done as you (and everyone else) have suggested !
ie: I have now download Gearbox version 3.7 TWICE.
BOTH versions seem identicle, same name, same file size !
If I start to install either of these... BOTH: say that I need to install a plugin !
That you and your colleagues say are no longer available !
SO: If I continue with the install of this version (V3.7)...
Will it work WITHOUT the plugin ????????????????????????
a plugin??
perhaps you could take a screen print of the error select the window the error is displayed in and press the alt key and the Prt Sc key. then paste into a word doc and upload it here, then we can see what you mean.
Hi Rowbi, Many thanks for your reply.
If you take a look at my 2nd post...
I have copied the message that appears at the top of the Installer, when I attempt to install: GearBox v3.70 Installer.exe
Then I did what that message said, and loaded the Line 6 Monkey.
And then I copied the message that appears at the bottom of the Line 6 Monkey.
My Question is a simple one, especially for those that should know...
Will this version install and work ok WITHOUT the plugin, that the Line 6 guys say is no longer available !?
Thanks
1) Yes - You need to reinstall Gearbox 3.70.
2) Yes - Gearbox will work without the plug in.
Please see the previous links for more installation tips, and close out the ticket as “answered” when your situation has been resolved.
