My Backtrack+Mic has suddenly stopped capturing

I have been using it to record band practices.  All of a sudden it isn't capturing any files.  I tried reloading default settings and played with all possible combinations.  Now I am noticing that I can't even force record or mark events.  And I just turned off the device and the blue light is still flashing.  I plugged in my earphones and hear sound, but also popping and crackling when ever the clip on the back moves.

I think this baby is busted.  Help!  And, no, I did NOT drop it, although I was tempted to throw it against the wall!

NEVERMIND!  I got an RMA and am returning this fragile little thing.  Wow!  Didn't even last 90 days!

    Hello,

You've had 3 Backtracks fail on you?

Have you tried resetting the Backtrack's firmware? How about doing an actual physical hard reset of the Backtrack?

Interesting. I just asked every single support rep here if they talked to a Sweetwater tech about a Backtrack and none of them had.

I'd really like to get your Backtrack back here so I can have a look but I understand if you'd just like to return it for something else.

Re: My Backtrack+Mic has suddenly stopped capturing

    Hello,

With my Backtrack, I've noticed that the most sensitive Mic setting usually works best when recording my band. I did have to experiment with placement though. I discovered that placing the BT at a higher elevation (in our case a 30U rackmount cabinet) and turning the microphone away from the band had the best results.

I'm not sure why simply changing settings in the BackTrack software would cause the device to fail. I've never ran into that before.

What exactly is happening? You change settings with the software and the BackTrack fails at that point?

I'd be happy to get you another BackTrack however, I'd just like to completely understand how the device is failing. Thanks!
