Display acts like a gambling machine

Just recently purchased the Spider III 75 Watt and was immediately overwhelmed by its sounds and tweaks and everything ...

I bought it mainly as a backup amp for bands I book in case their amps go down or as an alternative.

Naturally I have to be able to find my way around the machine as well. So I got to fiddling with the knobs and create some sounds of my own.

That went really smooth and fast, so then I got to saving the settings.

But when I got to creating a name for the sound, using the "Navigator" and Display, I noticed two things.

I found the display to be somewhat small and the Navigator button is a bit twitchy for the callous guitarists hands.

Maybe as a result of the latter the choice of letters and numbers after pushing the upper or lower end of the Navigator button started scrolling out of control. When I pushed the right side of the knob (for the next position in the name) that position started scrolling as well.

So I saved the settings (with a few random letters in the name) by pushing the Channel Memory knob.

I pushed it again to re-enter the edit mode (repeated this a few times) until I could move through the alphabet again in my own pace.

My question is: is the erratic behaviour of the display caused by me pushing too hard on the Navigator button?

My suggestion to Line6 is: in the next model of i.e. the FBV Express pedal include a (large) display of the current setting.

During the preset saving procedure, if you press and hold the 'UP' or 'DOWN' arrows, the characters will scroll quickly. However, this is should not be the case if you hold the 'LEFT' or 'RIGHT' arrows. the cursor will only move to that direction one character.

If this is a problem, you should try resetting the amp by holding the 'A' channel button as you power on the amp.  Please keep in mind that this will erase any settings you may have saved.

    Regards,
