Connecting GuitarPort to an iMac

Hi,

I have recently changed from being a PC user to buying a new iMac. I wanted to use my guitarport and gearbox software on my new iMac but although it installs fine and appears to be working I get no sound when I plug my guitar in and play.

On my old Dell PC I had the guitar connected to the USB and then the R and L connectors hooked into the speaker system. On iMac I can see no way of connecting these cables to it. I then thought I would use the single black mini-jack cable between the guitarport and the mac. I changed the settings on the iMac to make the input and output use the guitarport and not the internal iMac defaults. Still no sound. Am I missing something?

The GuitarPort light is green it says its connected etc and GuitarPort and Line6 Monkey can see it...what am I missing?

All the drivers and compatibilities are fine and details of the iMac are listed below.

Help, I love my new iMac but I can't live without my Gearbox!!

Thanks for any help.

Cheers,

Scott

Re: Connecting GuitarPort to an iMac

    Hi,

First, remember that the GuitarPort is now your sound card if the drivers are installed correctly, so all audio outputs from there, not your iMac's sound card/speakers. For this reason you must connect your monitors directly to it's outputs, whether they are phones or other speakers.

With this being the case, you will not easily be able to use the iMac's built in speakers for the GuitarPort since those are hardwired to your iMac's sound card - you will not be able to disconnect this and connect to the GuitarPort.

So you will need to get some other monitors - you should be able to use the same stereo system you used on the PC (if you have it) or can use computer speakers, a guitar amp (with the right adapter), etc.

    Thanks

You have to plug the speakers DIRECTLY to the headphone OUT or the line OUT on the GUITAR-PORT.

Is Guitarport compatable with Reason 6?
