Recording POD X3 through SPDIF

Hello,
I am trying to connect my POD X3 to my computer to record using SPDIF.
I have a 75 ohm cable going from the POD into a Creative Digital I/O Module (http://www.soundblaster.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=16&product=1780) going into my sound card (http://au.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=209&subcategory=669&product=17813&listby=) through the rear line in port.
I have the output on the POD set to match the studio direct. There is 12dB of gain on the SPDIF output at 44.1 kHz. My sound card has the line in turned up, the pod master volume is turned up and my speakers are all turned up.
When I run my recording software, no signal is recieved or detected.
Can you please help?
Thanks,
Joel
Usually "Line In" refers to an analog inout at line level, not a digital spdif input. Are you sure your interface has spdif and not just analog RCA/phono jacks?
Also, sync needs to be set to "external" or "spdif" or whatever it is called in your card's setup panel.
I'm not quite sure what is being asked. I have a digital in/out module which I plug the pod into via 75ohm 'rca' this is then transfered through a cable into my soundcard via a 3.5mm jack. Unless the jack remains in a digital input? That could be the issue. Maybe a spdif to toslink cable may help a little instead of trying to go coaxial in 3.5mm into the sound card?
Thanks for any replyies.
Do you have 2 separate devices then- a digital to analog convertor and a sound card?
At any rate, the second part of my response is critical- your other gear must slave to the X3 through spdif. Is there an applet that lets you make settings to your hardware, so you can choose to sync to an external digital source?
No it is just a POD X3 into the digital I/O module then into my line-in jack on my sound card. I've also asked the soundcard and digital I/O module manufacturer about this.
As for the second part of your response, I have no idea. The I/O module has no software or anything with it. My soundcard has SPDIF drivers or whatever but doesn't recognise the I/O module at all. I did post the links to the hardware I am using. Don't know if that will help.
Thanks
Hello,
If your soundcard does not have a SPDIF connection, it is most likly not seeing the "digital" output of the POD. Have you tried using the analog outputs of the POD and are you getting signal there? Do you have another SPDIF interface you can try connecting to for trouble shooting?
He is using a digital convertor box from Creative that is supposed to output the (analog) signal to his sound card.
After reading a few comments/reviews on it from Amazon, it seems like many people have problems with it though...
