POD X3 Live and POD Farm - How to?

Hi all! I would like to thank you all in advance for all your time and concern. I have received POD farm when I purchased my POD X3 live and I am a little confused about how to use it and even what POD farm is used for.
I have installed and successfully activated the POD farm software. Software tells me that there are not any devices connected even though POD X3 live is connected. Am I not supposed to use them together?
IF not why are they giving it free with POD X3 live? I would really appreciate it if someone could help me with my confusion.

you get pod farm plugin for free... not pod farm standalone...
basically... pod farm will not launch from an icon... EVER as you aren't licensed that way.,...
you can add the pod farm plugin in your recording software to a track that you've recorded...
just like any other plugin VST.
this is why you will probably want to record unprocessed tracks... you can tweak them to fit the song later without re-performing.
I see. Thank you for the clarification. I have recently started using Adobe Audition as my DAW and I have added POD farm as a VST plugin into it. When I try to run this plug in I got the error message attached below.
Do you have any idea why this is happening. My X3 live is not connected at the moment. Does it need to be connected to have the plug-in working?
yes the x3 needs to be attached in order to verify your rights to run the plugins...
Is there any work arounds to overcome this limitation? I record all of my stuff on my laptop and It would nice to be able to workon the recorded tracks without having X3 live connected.

no workaround, other than getting the free iLok version of pod farm... but it has much fewer models and effects...
i mean short of buying a license or a tone studio that comes with the standalone... but in all cases there will have to be hardware or iLok on your machine to verify the license.
Thanks!!! I will try this plug-in first thing I get back home today.

It worked great. I am able record dry guitar signal and add the effects I like later on using DAW with POD Farm as a VST plug-in. Great application.
I especially love the dual tone feature.
Thanks again all of you!!!

POD Farm is used as a plugin with the X3. That means it is used within your recording software program to process already recorded tracks, giving you the same set of sounds in your DAW as the X3 provides itself. It does not work with the X3 as a standalone application. Ther standalone editor/GUI for the X3 is Gearbox. You can download and install it using Line 6 Monkey.
