Hi
J love my Variax 700 since J have it but J have a difficulty to make the fat, muted, bass sound from the 6th and 5th string something sounding like 'All my Life' song by Foo Fighters, j hope guitarist will understand what J am sayng especialy those who play metal and grunge stuff.
Is it the problem because of pieso pickup or there are some way to get that sound,J try with equilisation but Jam not satisfied.Anyone help Ragards Tanche
I understand what you are trying to achieve. You should be able to get close. The piezo pickups don't respond in quite the same way as a magnetic pickup does, but nevertheless as i say you should be able to get close to what you want. A lot of the bands who play this type of music detune by a semitone or sometimes two from standard concert pitch and that definitely has a bearing on how the guitar sounds and heavier gauge strings might also help somewhat. You can change tuning electronically on a Variax, but for what you are looking for, changing the tuning manually as you would on a normal guitar would probably yield better results. You might also want to try adjusting the sound of the guitar, pickup models and the different string levels in Variax Workbench on a computer for which you will need to use either a Workbench interface and VDI lead or a POD XT Live/X3 Live and a VDI lead. Along with appropriate EQ and pedal/amp settings you might find an improvement
