Including the X3 live in different signal chains

So I've been trying to figure out some different setups for the X3 Live..What I want to know is how could I used the X3 for basically just delays, phasers, flange, and thats really it...I would use external stompboxs for distortion and overdrive (ie a TS-9 or Sparkle Drive)...then I would want those tones to come out of my amp (let's say a Vox AC-15)..to be more clear I would want this signal chain: guitar, delays (X3), overdrives, amp....or how could I do guitar overdrives, X3, amp..just some questions about setups hope you can help thanks.

I know this isn't directly responding to your question, but it's a relevant observation..........

If you just want to use effects and not the amp/cabinet modelling, which is the real strength/point of the X3, you might consider selling/swapping the X3 for something like a Line 6 M-13. That device currently includes more effects than the X3 and is designed only for effects, with its output intended to be sent to an amp. The X3, on the other hand, devotes most of it electronic circuitry/processing power to the amp modelling and sometimes uses less powerful, resource-demanding algorithms for processing its effects (i.e. somewhat inferior sound). Also, the X3 inevitably colours the tone somewhat before sending the effected signal to an amp (even if all amp modelling is bypassed as much as possible) so it becomes more difficult to obtain a pure amp-ready signal leaving the X3.

Regardless of the routing chain using the X3 I believe you'll get better effects-only, amp-ready, tone from an M-13 than from the X3. Again, if you really don't want the amp modelling why use a device deisgned primarily for amp modelling?

    Just a thought........

    +1 to Silverhead's suggestion

However, if you would just like to use the effects of the X3, you will need to turn off any amp models and select no Cabinet, then save the presets with the effect models you would like to use in your setup.  You would need to do this for every patch that you plan on using in this manner.
