Is this thing on? Free drums and harmonizer maybe

I found a free vsti and standalone drummer that is really good. It's called Mdrummer by Meldaproduction.
It is similar to Jamstix for setting the verse, chorus and fills (breaks) and it plays it while you record your other instruments.
You can also tweak it with some extra work. But it really changes the way a midi drum editor works. No more drawing in every beat.

You can download Mdrummer small for free and use it forever.
There are lots of tutorials on Utube

While I was recording this demo - I thought I'd also demo a free real time pitch-shifter that makes my guitar sound trumpet like in places. It's called Shifter v.1 Is that the harmonizer effect that people are asking for?
This was a fun project.
cool song, man
Bumpy-thanks-I'm always looking for a decent drum program.
You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.
Hey.....that's my birthday! I'm not quite sure what I'm listening to...
bumpy,
It's for PC only (I believe), but that is certainly an interesting guitar tone!
A year ago when I posted this - people were talking (complaining) about harmonizers.
I had already experimented with pitch shifting audio tracks for vocal harmony so I googled for a real time pitch shifter and found that one.
If you haven't done it - you can duplicate an audio track twice so you have three of the same track. Then in Cubase make sure the "show events infoline" is pressed at the top left - then click under "transpose" and change the number a few semitones.
If you do it on a vocal - the high one is Alvin the chipmunk and the low one is Smoky the bear and the middle one is you. But the three together aren't too bad as long as the volumes are adjusted.
I think I left one track alone - changed one plus 4 semitones and the other minus 5. Something like that.
But the one I downloaded did the same thing as I played in real time.
Lemurh - happy birthday in advance for next month. ![]()
bumpy,
I will have to look into that. Not sure if Cubase LE4 does that. I already have a pitch shifter/delay effect in my Korg D3200 hard disc recorder. Thanks!
Thank you, bumpy!
thanks for this bumpyroad
very cool to use this stuff
The drum sound is very "General MIDI". Is that the sound the plugin produces or can you rout the plugin through a different VSTI?
Hi Septemfluous - been away for awhile?
That post was with Mdrummer small v.2 - so I downloaded v.3 to check it out and keep things current.
I hate manuals - especially for checking things quickly so I push buttons.
I loaded the vst and in Quick Controls - clicked "natural" under components - then "pop1" in the second window - then "poprock - then shuffle" in the 3rd window - then "blues rock 02" in the 4th window.
Pressed the space bar and it didn't play. I forgot how to operate this. I clicked on "globals" tab and found a button for "jam mode" and now it plays when I press the space bar. It plays for 50 secs then quits - so I have to find the settings for length which are probably done using the intro - verse - chorus - outro settings - but I'm in a hurry right now.
Then I did a mixdown of the audio and there was the audio track.
So here it is - just that particular drum kit - but more analog.
By the way - I installed mdrummer small - not the mdrummer small with demo version - so it doesn't hiss or click.
Aaron - this is the joy of having a PC - there has always been loads of cheap/free software. You may have to wait until everyone catches up with Snow Leopard compatibility before things get easier.
Yup, I've been on hiatus from the L6 boards. I got a GT-10B for my bass (yes, I've been playing live again... YUCK!) and I use the iLok version of PodFarm in the studio for guitars. So, I haven't really had much to add and I've been busy musically.
Anyway, sounds like the software is all self contained. I think I'd rather draw in the beats and copy/paste them where I need. I have some really good samples for BFD and DFH that sound like you're sitting in the room with the drums.
I'm not sure if people are still interested in this - but I figured out how to easily program Mdrummer free and change drums on the fly.
This is really a must-have free software IMHO.
Attached is a made-up song with the drums sounding something like Fleetwood Mac - Tusk.
I added a simple background with Kore2 free vsti and made up some guitar to fill it out.
bumpy,
The drums that you did in this latest song sound much better than the first song at the beginning of this thread. Rock on!
Hey Aaron - I was checking out their website and they offer a few products and mention that most of them are compatible with Macs.
Maybe they'll do the same for Mdrummer soon?
I hate manuals but I don't mind watching videos - even if they have computer voices - but they are all referring to the full version - so the buttons they say to press don't exist on the free version.
That makes it hard to figure out.
That free midi for Enter Sandman that we downloaded - I ran it through mdrummer using the same kit - it sounds pretty good I think. (I don't know the song).
I'll attach it here in case you want it.
bumpy,
Unless your ears got burned off
you've heard "Enter Sandman":
You may be surprised to know that I know nothing about Metal. During their time - I was listening to country. And when I came back - they were gone.
The only thjing I know about Metal is that they get defensive when provoked.
bumpy,
In the Los Angeles area, it seems that most rock radio stations play that song still on a fairly regular basis.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
