Hi,
i am getting into the home recording arena fo rthe firtst time and am looking for an interface to hook up my guitar to the computer. I am confused with the products that line 6 has to offer. They have guitarport, UX-1 and UX-2...what are the fundamental differences between these and which one should I be looking at.
Any advice would be great.
Hello and welcome. I personally use guitarport hardware and gearbox software. I've used it for over 6 years. Works well and is very stable on my XP machine. If you're machine is a windows 7 OS (or a Mac snow leopard) I'd seriously reconsider Line 6 at the moment because of their driver (or lack thereof) issues. The toneport models seem to me to be a newer generation so to speak of guitarport with the added mic input. I believe they also use podfarm instead of gearbox but not positive since I don't use toneport. Line 6 has some great products and I've been a fan for years but their lack of communication and lack of driver support for the new OS for pc and mac seems unprofessional at best.
The Tone ports use gear-box
Stay in the mix and in the know.
