oh no... i feel a GAS attack coming on.

seriously, this is cool.  I see there's a humbucker and a single coil pup on the pictures so that sounds cool.

any news on what those pups are, or are they OEM ones, with the idea that people who want specific pups would get them swapped out for specific models, etc?

    Hey Rowbi,

On the USA guitars there will be Seymour Duncans.

On the Korean guitars there will be OEM pickups by a cool company in Korea that works with our partner there. They are wound to Tyler's specs.

    More on that later.

Will these guitars work well with existing Line6 products i.e. Pod X3 Live etc...?

Any close up picks of the headstock yet?

Yes, it will work with the VDI on existing and future products.

In fact, on the X3 with dual tone you can send the magnetics to one amp and an guitar model to a different amp or preamp and play them at the same time.

This day has been a long time coming Rich. Any details on the capabilities? Still 25 models? More? Less? Don't hold back!

OK. Lets start with the questions.

    Is this a vax II?

Or just a 1st gen vax in a boutique guitar?

It appears there is a new bridge design?

Is there a rechargable battery solution? Or do we still use AA?

Are the real pups routed to the 1/4 inch jack or can I switch that jack to be the vax output?

When will I be able to use VDI over wireless?

It is so much better than Variax I. I would call it Variax 1.5. We improved the pitch tracking on the alt tuning and the pitch detection in general. I will be blogging about that more in the coming weeks at www.tylervariax.com. I will be interviewing the head DSP guy to give you more info.

The models all benefited in sound just like the models in DL4 benefited from moving to a better chip in the M13/M9.

Yes, James Tyler helped us design all new bridges for each model to address concerns that you guys have brought to our attention. Also we worked with L.R. Baggs on a brand new piezo design for the same reason.

Yes, it has a litium-ion rechargeable battery with a battery meter that will give you 12 hours of play time. More on that later.

Both the pickups and the vax come out of the 1/4 inch. You press the model encoder to switch between magnetics and model.

That is the million dollar question. I can't say at all, but there is thinking going on about that. Nothing soon though.

Well two of them do certainly - the LP (ish) one and the Ibanez RG (ish) one have got me drooling with anticipation - and I haven't even heard or played any of them yet.  Don't like the Strat (ish) one though - Sorry.  Two out of three ain't bad

    Nick

Yup and many guys like the Stratish one and not the Shred and many other combinations. That is why we did them all. Because with many but not all guys liking each model, that means that three out of three is a homerun.

    very nice!

is it the exact same guts as variax 700 etc?

If not, does this mean a nice flash update for our variaxs that we own?

Personally I would like to see an update for us with some more features, like maybe a nice nylon string?

Having said that, good effort there on the bodywork!

    Gareth

The guts are brand new with a new more powerful chip so that we could get things going that you guys have been asking for. The new code will not help the existing Variaxs.

When we were all talking in the old "future of Variax" thread, I talk about the fact that we feel like we are cutting back and looping around to pick up a bunch of guys we missed the first time around. So the models will remain the same for now. But the improvement in the sound of the models because of the DSP is good.

I'll take the RED Strat w/Tailpiece...sign me up!!!  (I hope it won't cost too much )  I don't want any updates for my existing VAX...I want a new 2-CPU, 1 for the Models and 1 for altered tunings, so that I can alter any model...plus a Nice Neck and real pickups...and a rechargeable battery.  This will be the bomb!

OK, deal. We got you all of that and more.

Still 25 models, yes. I am not holding back, but I want to share a lot of info from all the guys on the team over the coming weeks and months. If I were to try to do it all right here and now it would be a book. I don't have that energy left right now.

Will the JTV's be the only variaxes available after they release? will line 6 continue to make bread n butter variaxes without all the bells and whistles?

will non-JTV's be given a makeover to include the new guts?
