I've just uploaded a first of multiple videos that will explain more about the new Relay brand G30 digital wireless system. Thanks go out to Dan Boomer from Line 6.
Here's part 1

I've uploaded part 3 of 3 video on the Relay G30 system.
More info on the system and interference solutions
Very interesting. I have an X2, but it looks as though this new Relay system will blow it out of the water. I wonder if L6 will be replacing the X2 systems with this, or just add it to the inventory?

I haven't seen any news about not continuing the X2 line of wiresless. That range of products can't be tossed out for just one Relay G 30.
Time will tell..
Will the Relay G30 work with piezo pickups?
Or is the impedence of them too high
No problem ... the input impedance of the G30 is 1.3Mohm
Ive been told that my pickup is about 10M ohm, will I need a pre amp then?
I ve used other wireless systems with out much success because they alter the tone too much.
What are you plugging it into now? What exact unit do you have? Is there no volume control wired to the piezo PU?
I seriously doubt that you need a 10M input Z. One of the other benefits of wireless is the use of a very short cable to connect it. If you are using a piezo that directly plugs into anything you compound the issue by adding the capacitance of the cable into the mix. That series capacitance is creating a high pass filter and rolling off your lows. The G30 could be thought of as a buffer stage and should make things a lot better.
My pickup is on a double bass!
Its a very simple piezo with no controls, which fits into the wing on the bridge and has one wire to a jack socket.
I have tried Samson and AKG wireless, and both seem to boost mids and cause feedback ,which isnt difficult with such a big instrument.
I hope the G30 will solve all this, when is it in the shops.?
Andy
release / shipping is projected at last part of July
So what amp or preamp are you able to plug your pickup into now and have success?
Not had any success really. The AKG worked a lot better than the Samson bug,but both stopped me from moving about because of feedback issues-exactly the opposite of why I want to use one!
I have tried a fishman powerchipas a pre amp with no real improvement.
I cant believe that nobody actually makes a dedicated transmitter suited to piezos,or are you supposed to use a pre-amp?
Anyway,I got to thank you for your interest in my predicament, looks like I'll be hauling my double bass down to my local music shop when they get the G30 in,for a test drive.
Yep ... in the end you'll just have to try it and see if it meets your expectations. I'm not gonna tell someone what they can and cannot hear. The G30 has a very high input impedance and shouldn't bother it ... but you be the judge.
Feedback on the other hand is a different issue. Just the act of amplifying your bass has it's own bunch of problems. Do you get feedback when you use a regular cable. Using the G30 should be about the same in that respect. It's gonna depend of the stage, the building size (especially ceiling height) and the components of your sound system.
Has it been anounced how much it would cost approximently? Will it be more or less than the current xdr95 price?
Stay in the mix and in the know.
