Please help with confused Variax and PodXTLive

I have programmed my pod to call up a specific guitar model for each patch. This past Saturday, I was getting a horrible "flickering" sound. I discovered that the Variax was rapidly (like 240 bpm) alternating between the guitar model I programmed into the patch and the one that my selector knob was on. Has anyone experienced this and can you please help? My guitar is a Variax 300 and I'm connecting with the Line6 VDI cable.

    Rusty,

I experienced something that sounds like this.  After a bunch of experiments, the problem I had was a dirty model selector.  I cleaned it with some contact cleaner a few times and haven't had the problem since (it took 2 or 3 cleanings, as the problem came back in between one of them).

One experiment is to rotate the model selector and pickup selector controls when this happens and make sure the are cleanly 'set' and see if the problem disappears....

I have the same problem. What did you use to clean the controls? Did you have to take the pick guard off of can it be done from above? thanks!

To put all the cards on the table, I'm very new to guitars (1 1/2 years) so, I am far from an expert.  But, fwiw, I used deoxit and just shot it in both from the top, and from the inside (ie, took the back panel off, and tried my best to aim it up inside the pot). Then rotated the pot a bunch of times, then let it dry, and then repeated. I tried to be very careful not to get the dexoit on the circuit boards (although I'm not sure that would be the end of the world).

There are some knowledgable guys here.... axm and others gave me some good advice.  I think the stock answer from Line6 would be to take it to a service center, but I felt this was something that fell in the category or routine maintenance (like changing strings)....
