UX1

I got the UX1 usb interface because I wanted to record to my compuer and play the sound through my computer.  I can't seem to find a way to record directly from the line 6 software.  the only way to get sound is to put the out from the ux1 to the effects in on my amp.  them i can use the line 6 software to play all the amps and stopboxes and it sounds good.  But I really though this thing was a midi type device I could use in some software such as abelton/sony acid/rosegarden/etc.  I also though i could play it through my computer speakers while playing.  am i doing something wrong.  I just got the basic UX1 for like $59.00.  I see that now you can oly seem to get it for 150.00 with the pod farm software

I have no problem recording in Garageband on my Macbook and playing out through the tiny on board speakers.  Sound is obviously not as good as coming out to decent sized speakers but its one less cable to trip up over.

I have to set the UX1 as the input in Garageband and set Garageband to play out though the monitors.

Dont know enough about the other software to guide you, but I would be surprised if its not possible, keep trying.

    Hi,

you have to plug headphones or speakers directly into the headphones jack of the UX1 to get output. Or, you can connect a y cable from the two analog outputs on the TonePort to the Line Input of your computer.

Check out pages 2.1 and 2.2 of the Gearbox Help Manual.

When I want to use mine with my computers speakers the work-around I use is plugging from the UX1's headphones jack out to my computers line in. Presumably it would also work if you plugged it into the mic in of your computer and set your playback volume under your audio devices(for me it's "Realtek HD Audio Manager) up to whatever volume you want. I assume that would increase latency though.
