OK TIME FOR SOME TONE REQUESTS!

Ok guys, i think i've gotten totally familiarized with how the machine (POD HD500) works, in terms of effects and amp modelling of course. It seems that even though there are less amp models, for now, the 8 microphone options instead of 4 on the X3 actually fills in a lot of the "blanks" for the POD HDxxx. As a matter of fact, without those extra microphones like the 409 Dynamic, 87 condenser, and the 4038 Ribbon, this machine would probably be 50% less versatile. So good job Line 6 for these new microphones! YEAH! =)

Anyways, the real point of this message is to actually ask anyone if they have any requests for tones, song specific, band specific, style specific, or anything. I'de love to hear from you all, make some great tones, and hopefully post some stuff on youtube. So let out those suggestions!

How about dialing in Warren Haynes of Gov't Mule?  A nice clean with Leslie (Diaz),  a crunch with Leslie (Driven Diaz I think),  a soldano-ish Lead (SLO100 - miss that on the HD's ),  and a nice auto-wah Soldano Lead.

I've been working on that recently and would love to see what you come up with......

    Four tones....

Re: OK TIME FOR SOME TONE REQUESTS!

I have been trying for quite sometime now and still haven't even gotten close.  But if you would like a go, my requested tone would be: Andy Timmons, Beware Dark Days off of the Resolutions albumn.  There is heavy and then a clean with tube satch over it.  Some seriously killer tone going on there.  The has several videos on youtube, showing his rig, and where he talked about some of the equipment that he used when recording.  So if you can nail that you would be a Tone Grandmaster.

And I am using an Ibby JS1200, so you have the Basswood body, and Rosewood neck, with the Dimarzio for reference.  I have been trying to get it with the J45, but I can't get that singing tone with the nice breakup.  I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

How about Eric Clapton's 'woman tone' from the Beano album?

    Classic, or what?

Eric Johnson  --   Clean Rhythm with Chorus and Memory Man.   I know, I know, just not possible to get Eric Johnson tones unless you ARE Eric Johnson.  God knows I tried in earlier versions of the POD product.  While I am awaiting my HD500, get this all figured out for me, beteasta.  LOL.

BTW -- these videos, for those that haven't seen them --- are the very shy and humble Eric actually taking you through his amps, effects and guitars.  It's all relative and subjective, but the tones in the first few minutes of the first video might be the best sounding guitar on the planet.

Asking a bit much of a modeler.  ANY modeler.  But at least we now know WHAT he uses............

I would like to hear the Bogner models voicing capability.

Does it have that weird mid knob thingy the X3 version had?

Re: OK TIME FOR SOME TONE REQUESTS!

Beteasta! You ROCK for smithing some tones for us - hey are you going to also post them in the CustomTones library here on the L6 site? Hope so!

Here's a list from me and some of my other players (who are now beginning to check out the HD 400 and 500 - don't own one yet, but we are demo'ing 2 of them):

    SECULAR

    Rolling Stones:

"Satisfaction" main riff (there's one out there in the CustomTones library now, but it's not really correct).

"Honky Tonk Woman" main riff (Keith Richards Tele with a humbucker)

      "Brown Sugar" main guitar riff

    Beatles:

"Hard Day's Night" big reverb intro chord

"Let it Be" Lead tone with Leslie

    James Gang:

"Funk 49" is harder to nail down that it appears.

      "Walk Away"

    U2:

      Streets Have No Name

    CHRISTIAN

Really Good Lincoln Brewster Lead Tone (Today is the Day)

Mighty to Save (Hillsong United) Intro Riff - played on a Gretsch DuoJet, but we play it on Strats and Anderson Cobras - Chimey

Your Grace is Enough (Tomlin) - Main Intro Riff - Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtnE_e1LylY

I better stop now or I'll put every song we do in here! Our first pick would be a solid tone for Satisfaction if we had to pick only one.

    Thanks in advance!

You mean interactive with the presence control?  Yes, it does.  Although maybe not so extreme.
