Here's a question for all of the lefties here: we all obviously really want these things to be made. Would you be willing to spend a significant premium over the normal righty price to snag a lefty? I'm taking about one or two hundred dollars-ish. I have no idea if that would change the math enough to matter but it's something to think about. Perhaps they could be convinced to do a Special Run of Exclusive Lefties for us. I'd be willing to have it be a signature model named after me, for a reasonable fee .

    Dave B.

    not famous, never will be

    Dave,

Yes, I would pay a modest premium for a leftie model if it tipped the math in favour of producing.

    Cheers

    Derek

    @Blave

You were just complaining about negativity and hiding behind aliases yet you complain that backwards volume and tone controls shows that Line 6 doesn't get lefties. AND... You use an alias.

    @Darrell

Someone on leftyfrets posted about how they got a small maker to sandcast a lefty Mosrite tremolo for a lefty Mosrite build. So it can be done.

Don't do the profitable thing, do the right thing.

I'll pay upfront for my JTV before its built if Line 6 promises to make one.

well, I for one can answer this question. Lefties have almost always had to pay 10% over the odds for their guitars in the past, until the advent of the "cheap" market...Korea, Taiwan, China etc, etc. Strangely enough, even though Line6 use these "cheap" markets, they're still not in a position to say they can produce the same guitar in a left hand configuration and make it viable....which leads me to believe that they simply just don't WANT to. If all the members of the board were left handed, believe me, there would be left-handed guitars out there- in their zillions! If 35% of the people were left-handed, this thread would not even be an issue...it would simply be a question of "Right or Left handed"? However, left handedness is a minority thing (under 10 %) and therefore L6 can choose to disregard 10 percent of their customer base.....my aim, is that they cannot ignore 20% of their customer base....SO, for every lefty out there who is prepared to boycott Line6 products...get your pal, bandmate, friend etc to boycott them too, and let them know how it feels to be in a minority!

    Hi Blave,

yep, I tried to keep it civil. I didn't actually notice at what point I stopped being civil, but I'm open to correction. Line6 stopped being "civil" once they chose to ignore the desperate pleas of a minority of people...and by that I mean true and long time customers who are genuinely looking for a solution to their problems.

Left-handedness IS a problem. There are few answers for it in "real" life, but Line6 has the answer to it in "guitar" life...and they choose NOT to follow that path. I can understand this in financial terms...Line6 will also understand this in financial terms if I have my way!

Gordii.  You should totally drop by the shop the next time you are in the neighbourhood.

I'll personally give you a tour of the place, buy you lunch and introduce you to the people behind the products.

Many of us are guitarists, and we're all pretty passionate about empowering our customers.

We are in the game to build great products that inspire great music.  You should come and see how we endevour to do that every day.

Let me know if that's interesting to you.

    Best,

    D

    Thanks D

anyone that offers to buy me lunch  and give me a free tour has totally captured my attention...and yet...and yet....I live in Germany not America, so I'm not too sure how the free lunch is going to happen. I'd gladly invite all you guys over to the Munich beer festival, where we could really talk about the needs and wants of the left-handed guitarist over a few liters of the finest ale...or alternatively I could make it up to the International Frankfurt music fair where the attention of the world, (and the european world) is once again on all things musical.

Many people say there's no such thing as a free lunch...but I'd be happy to have my brains picked for the price of a meal :-) Line6 claim to be "pretty"passionate about empowering their customers. Well, I'm damned passionate about empowering Line6! When I "discovered" L6, albeit very late, I was so bowled over with their potential that I simply looked no further- For me, as a left hander, it was like finding the holy grail. Sadly, this holy grail is not only tarnished, but seriously flawed. This holy grail is only for those who are able to use it...right handed people...and not for those who genuinely need it. So the question is, shall I now look further to find out if other companies can also fulfill my needs? I've been reading in this thread about Roland..maybe they can fulfill my needs too, for my needs are small compared with many of the proffesional musicians here on this thread. However, I DO have friends in the music business, in Germany, Scotland, Spain and Italy, and if I'm not happy, I don't think they'll be happy either...and one of them is an excellent Line6 guitarist

"Screw your courage to the sticking post" as Shakespeare once said. Instead of ignoring or being fearful of the Lefty market, embrace it with both hands, and it will love you in return. Or as my wife pointed out...they don't make left handed amps and cables, do they??

So, as generous and welcome as the offer of lunch is, this time I'd be glad to pick up the tab, if L6 would just reconsider it's position and strategy...just for me ;-)

      Greetings,

          Gordii

    Hallo

"You can´t always get what you want

              but if you try sometime

                    You might find

              You get what you need"

    Mick Jagger RollingStones

Are we to turn down a helping "hand" from Darrell??

Maybe our only chance to get a lefty Variax

Went to my musicshop to play on 59 and 69

59 is a better built guitar

    I´ll pay more for a JTV 59

    Paul

    Ps

Are we talking about a USA or Asian made guitar?

    Hi Paulsky,

thanks for revitalising the thread and for your background research, and as using lyrics to make a point is a very good idea, i've allowed myself to change one word of a Pink Floyd song to make the case for a Left Hand Variax.

"Shall we "make" a new guitar?

shall we drive a more powerful car?

shall we work straight through the night?

         ...shall we get into fights?"

Pink Floyd (What shall we do now)

I personally don't care if it's 59,69,89, or Thailand, Korea, Mexico, or even a brand new design specially to capture the left hand market. Although I replied to Darrell within the hour, we've heard nothing from him since end of May, and only 11 responses from him since 2007...not exactly "our man in Havanna" more like the "Spy who came in from the cold"

I'm in the market for a new amplifier. At the end of the year I receive loads of money from an insurance premium (unless I die first, in which case my good lady has promised to buy a left hand JTV 89 and cremate it with me ;-) ) The very serious question is, Do I choose a company that chooses to ignore me, my wishes, dreams...my WANTS (to quote Mick Jagger) or do I choose a company that can fulfill my NEEDS?

Is this now a dead topic? Seems there's not been much activity for a while? I want a JTV 59 if not please Line6. I would also be willing to pay upfront for a leftie, and pay a premium. Also, for what it's worth I own a pod HD500, and have owned lots of other Line6 products in the past.

I agree that it's completely unfair that Line 6 have marginalised us lefties. It's probably not going to mean much to a multi-national company, but if this isn't rectified I will boycott Line6 products too. If Gibson can offer a full range of Les Paul Standards in Left Handed, what makes this different for Line6? It's simply not acceptable.

I would like to be another imperceptible lefty blip on the radar asking for Line 6 consideration.  I had a lefty Variax (300).  I've got a Pod HD500, a DL-4, a UX2.  Have had several other Line 6 products in the past.  There has to be a reasonably cost effective way to serve the left handed community.  In the fraction of the lefty request type posts here I have read, I see a lot of empassioned pleas for lefty guitars.  An electronics kit might be the companiy's compromised accommodation.  Please?  Something for the southpaw?  One thin mint, for Mr. Creosote?

I'm a new-comer to Line6, having had a PodHD 500 for about a year now. But, I would have gotten into Line6 earlier if they'd had a left-handed JTV available when I got my current guitar (in 2010). Come on Line6, please just do a lefty JTV-69! That's all we need...

I've pretty much given up on there being a JTV lefty, but coincidentally I had been corresponding with a Line6 Customer Support Supervisor today regarding my DT-25 amp and mentioned how we've been left behind on the JTV, no pun intended.  Here is his response and maybe it's worth a shot for all us lefties to follow his suggestion. -----

"I will definitely put a bug in the ear of the guitar Product Managers regarding lefty JTVs.  Maybe I can find some threads online to bolster the request. You can help the cause by adding some product feedback for any of the JTVs at http://line6.com/company/contact/productfeedback/. That is what the PMs check for ideas."

So there you have it.  Let's at least give them what they're asking for.  I have!

Done. I did follow the link and gave a kind feedback post wishing them the best with the JTV's concept and being a lefty I cannot try one for myself. No ranting or complaining!

I posted positively as well.  I mentioned the transposition option and improvement in build quality and asked them to consider a model for left handers.  I could have used the transposition option on my last gig!  I tried vinegar before on this thread and it didn't work.  Maybe honey will do the trick.  It can't hurt to try!
