    To date, 4514 views of this post and only 59 responses.  There are a few other posts in support of left-handed JTV guitars.  But not exactly the outpouring of support that indicates a considerable demand for left-handed models.  I believe the 500 is the only lefty model that Line 6 ever produced.  No 300, 700 or acoustic models.  I'd say that based on this history and the fact that the JTV has been out for quite some time now, the chances of a left-handed model are slim to none.  I only wish that Line 6 would step up to the plate and either confirm that there are plans for one or just let us know that it's not going to happen.  Hello, Line 6?  Where's your input to these posts?

    As for the lack of repair parts for the 500, it's just a plain shame.  However, I was informed by Line 6 tech support that a damaged circuit board CAN be repaired.  Your local authorized repair center would have to send the guitar to Line 6 for analysis and replacement of component parts.  More than likely it would be a very expensive undertaking.  At this point, I'm not willing to spend a lot of money to repair a $500 guitar that is far inferior to something like the JTV.  Guess I'll stick with my '94 Gibson LP Custom, Carvin Custom and some of the other LP copies that I've upgraded.  Perhaps I'll look into adding an LR Baggs piezo bridge to one of them so I can at least get a combination of acoustic and electric sounds out of one guitar.

    I've been a long time supporter of Line 6 equipment...POD xt Pro, POD xt Live, POD X3, FBV shortboard, Spider Valve mkII 212, FBV mkII shortboard and Variax 500.  I can't say that Line 6 has shown me the same love.  At the very least, these posts deserve a direct response from a Line 6 representative.  Thanks for nothing, Line 6!

    Funny - when you find a decent lefty deal, people come out of the woodwork to bid! Could it be that alot of lefties aren't aware of the variax and it's capabilities?

    Just to add my own support for a leftie version.  As has been said before there are so few options for us lefties - a leftie variax would fly off the shelves.  As a jobbing musician writing jungles for ads etc, I currently have (all leftie):

    a strat;

    a 335 copy;

    a hofner committee with flat wounds for jazz stlye stuff;

    a mandolin;

    a banjo;

    2 acoustics;

    a nylon string classical;

    a sitar;

    a ukelele; and

    a REALLY p@ssed off wife who wants all our storage space back.

    This is just to allow me to have the sonic palet that I need to write to briefs.  I would happily get rid of most of that lot - I'm not very sentimental about my instruments - mostly because I have always just had to buy whatever they had lefthanded in the shop!

    Personally I couldn't care less what model is available - if it plays OK and sounds like the emulations on the right handed ones, Line 6 could string up a cricket bat and I'd buy it.

    Please do this - it just can't be that hard to reprogram the computer to cut these things in reverse can it?  Or is it?  In which case charge more - at least then we lefties could have a choice at all.  (you'd sell more if they were the same price though).

    Thanks

    Sorry to see that Line6 have managed to lose you as a customer, RVSE01, specially as you were obviously a dedicated Line6 supporter. Their lack of response and care for their customer´s wishes deserves no better. I'm assuming your actions will go unnoticed by the Line6 hierarchy...the money you gave out for their products in the past is already stashed away in their bank accounts.

    Hey folks.  Darrell Smith here.  I'm the product manager for JTV guitars.  I wanted to chime in to let you know I'm listening to the community on this issue.  We have had to put our plans to develop a leftie JTV-59 on hold for the time being.  I will continue to count every request for a leftie version and build internal momentum for developing a leftie version of the JTV-59 in the future.

    For the time being, I'd like to throw out a possibility that might inspire some of you to consider if modifying a Right handed JTV-59 could work for you:  Turns out it is a fairly straight forward electronic modification to cross wire the peizo cabling from 1-2-3-4-5-6 to 6-5-4-3-2-1, and re-string the guitar for leftie operation.  I know this is not a long term solution for the needs of the leftie market, just a possibility I wanted to get out there.  If any of you decide that this approach could be successful for you, and give it a go please post about it so we can see how it goes!

    Thanks for your understanding.

    Have a great day.

    Hi, Darrell

    It's nice to see some Line 6 activity here at last, even if the news is not quite positive. Can you share why the plans are on hold, and when we would ever be likely to see one? If there is no sign of a JYV on the horizon by the end of the year and I can't find a backup leftie 500. I am probably going to jump ship as well.

    I keep restating my interest in a leftie JTV as I am so reliant on my 500 and would like to make the next step up, so my 500 would be a backup. I'd be screwed if the 500 broke, and the recent news about problems getting 500 repairs is a real worry as well.

    I don't know how keen I am on restringing a right hooker, but I guess if Hendrix could do it....  But wouldn't there be warranty issues with taking a new guitar and instantly getting into its gizards? Would Line 6 do the mods to keep the warranty valid?

    hi rvse,

    i am also thinking of selling my line 6 gear. we all heard of the guy with the broken down variax500 leftie and a no longer availability of spare parts for the guitar. on the other hand no or very few  feedback of the "company"

    about the lefthanded jtv. how long can one waite??? line 6 said if there was enough interest for the jtv they would consider to start a run for the leftie market  " ( in2012) ".

    now reading all the mails i think they are looking for a friendly way of backing off without telling us that there will be no leftie jtv.buying a righty pay 1000 bucks change the electronics and turn it upside down , COME ON .

    my conclusion "LINE 6 HAS NO COSTUMER FRIENDLY POLICY WHAT SO EVER " and in the future i will take my money elsewhere.may be it will be the same with another brand ,  but i think we all deserve at least an answer about this topic, time is up you now.

    so long all

    Hi Darell

    Thanks for your post - again not totally bowled over by the news, but I think we are appreciative of any information.

    One other option - would Line 6 consider selling just the electronics stand alone, so that us wrong 'uns could try to mod our existing guitars?  At least that way we could could a take a step on the Line 6 ladder?  As RVSE01 said, playing a Les Paul upside down isn't ideal, especially with the additional pots on the JTV models.

    Any thoughts really appreciated.

    Well I could not have said it better than RVSE01, though I wish I owned a music store so I too could stop stocking Line6 products.  This whole attempt by this thread to get Line6 to listen, while very well intentioned, and when not falling on DEAF ears, falls on ears that don't think so good, eh?  String a righty upside down - what a pathetic suggestion.  So, I've decided to stop having any hope there will ever be a lefty in any JTV model.  It just feels better, and is a bit liberating. The  attempts to explain the delay are worthy of the best of politicians.  I have owned many Line6 products in the past, I currently use an HD500 and love it.  But I know one day my 500 will collapse, as will the HD500.  When you put 10% of the market between a rock and a hard place by de-commissioning the 500 and not having any replacement, then it is time to wake up and smell the paint.  I will need to move on to other alternatives - and they are out there.  Line6 doesn't owe it to us to build one.  The really silly thing is that a market campaign targeted specifically to lefties would have been a smart move.  Yes, I used the past tense.  I'm done with feeling "on hold".

    It has been months and months since anyone from Line 6 said anything in this forum. I'm not sure it in our best interests to jump on the one fellow from Line 6 who decided to speak up and provide us with some information. I think this is why Line 6 are hesitant to say anything about anything.

    Having said that, I wish they would say a lot about a lot. It was great that Darrell Smith made a contribution. Thanks.

    +1 zedd.

    And yet people wonder why Line 6 is reluctant to make any futuristic statements in the public forum? If I were Darrell, the message I would take away from this little exchange is: "keep your head down or it will get shot at". Line 6 is under no obligation to do anything except produce the products it decides to produce based on ROI considerations, and they are certainly under no obligation to talk about their decisions or  to rationalize them publicly.

    All current and potential customers, of course, can decide what they want to do about that - including ranting and threatening here, but also including continuing to make their preferences known in a constructive and respectful manner, as many (unfortunately not all) contributors are doing.

    surely owning a music store... you are in a better position than most to notice that more right handed guitars sell than left handed guitars....

    and you wouldn't bother selling any if you weren't making money....

    much less designing and organizing labor in asia to build them....

    you really should use your business sense here rather than your personal preference.

    it's still not easy to find right handed models in stores...

    so perhaps let them catch up... since clearly it is something they want to do..

    probably many reasons it hasn't happened yet...

    maybe you noticed a crappy economy... probably plays a part..

    anyway... not sure if you can be reasoned with as you are clearly frustrated...

    but i'm positive that the delay isn't personal against you....

    so why treat it as such?

    Another lefty to add to the list, I would buy a 69 in a shot and a 59 if no 69 was forthcoming.
