I tried the procedure on both my windows 7 laptop and my XP desktop pc to no avail.
Here's what I do.
1. Plug into usb.
2. Start backtrack setup utility
3. click on the Set Date/time button.
4. Safely eject device from windows.
5. Unplug USB.
6. Wait 5 seconds. or even 1 minute... The backtrack restarts by itself...
7. Plug my bass in the in port of the back track
8. record some stuff
9. Plug into usb
10 files are all named BT000019.wav and such... no date stamp...

I tried turning on or off. Leaving the backtrack on or off. No results.
Some help please.
edit: double post.
Problem solved. As a matter of fact, there was not a problem in the first place...
I was looking for the date time stamp in the filename like when I import digital photos of capture mini DV video...
Turns out the date stamp is in the file properties, not in the filename...
So I'm all good!
