Here's an accurate simulation of the classic Van Halen sound from their debut album:
AMP: Metal (green)
DRIVE: 7
BASS: 4
MID: 6
TREBLE:8
VOLUME: 8
FX2: Phaser
ROUTING: Pre
SPEED: 0.2
FEEDBACK: 50%
MIX: 50%
FX3: Digital delay
ROUTING: Post
TIME: 250ms
FEEDBACK: 30%
BASS: 50%
TREBLE: 50%
MIX: 30%
REVERB: Vintage plate
ROUTING: Post
PREDELAY: 50%
DECAY: 50%
TONE: 50%
MIX: 60%
Using a strat with a humbucker at the bridge and vintage tremolo will get the best results.
Enjoy!
Dario.
Van halen the band that popularize the song "jump". this setting is great. thank you for sharing.
No problem. Also, simply turning off the phaser and delay will get a more raw VH sound, like "You really got me". I have two settings. One with phaser/delay on, and off. Works great to replicate the classic Van Halen sound.
Cool, I'll have to plug this one in and try it out. Have you posted it on CustomTone?

I haven't no. Don't know how to. But thought I'd post this up the old-fashioned way to see how VH got the sound with the proper chain of efx..
Hello, can you tell me which amp model you are using for the Van Halen Sound, amp model, red or green led, and what Bass, Mids, and treble are, I an get the effects ok.
Thanks,
OK saw your settings in the blog above. Dialed it in with the Metal/Green. Sounds good but will probably have to add a little more gain for Single Coils. Gonna try it on stage first. Good Rock tone. I saved one with delay and reverb, without the phaser, and the other with the phaser, delay and reverb.
Yea, for single coils I'd turn the gain to 10. It's amazing how well the Spider IV replicates the classic VH sound. I'll be posting the 1984 VH sound soon.
Ciao.
