I have an urgent need for some good crunch tones (both mild & heavy) for Hillsongs/Chris Tomlin type music.I have a church gig this Saturday & I'm kinda new to the HD so if you can share your tones/bundles it would be great! God bless.
It seems that every time I tell someone I'll bring my POD home and upload some tones, something comes up and I can't do it.
SO! Fiddle with the Hiwatt and Dr. Z models. Those seem to be getting the most play time for the kinds of tones you are looking for, and I attest to that. Stick a nice warm drive pedal in front of it and maybe a comp to boost for leads, and you'll be set. Those amp models are just awesome.
Thanks Hitch ,I feel my X3L have sounds better tone wise for Hillsongs. You have some cool delay plays on the HD however.I stilll have to experiment. What are the names of the 2 amps you mentioned on the amp list? Is it the same? I'm not close to my HD right now.
The specific model names are the Hiway 100 and the PhD Motorway. The Divide 9/15 amp model is pretty good for crunch too.
Here is the one I use at the moment and I am very happy with it(unusual for me as I normally take months to fine tune my sounds). I use a humbucker guitar and generally use the bridge position. The foot switches are FS1 comp, FS2 overdrive, FS3 Tremolo(might not be set up), FS4 Delay. It is a really mild OD so a few changes to the gain setting might be needed. The patch is set up to go straight into the PA (Studio/direct). Let me know what you think as it is the first patch I have shared.
Try this bundle - maybe something there that will be usable or at least a starting point
Thanks guys.I will download the tones & try.
Well, this is what I use for my 'crunch' tone
My 'main' crunch tone (this is my mainstay, I have a clean and lead also, between those 3, wih an occasionally bluesy tone, it's where I'm at)

CAn I use the bundle above in the POD HD 400? Is there anyway to save it to do so?
The only way I know of is to have HD400 edit software on your PC,, and HD500 edit software also on your PC.. Open the both up side by side and copy the parameterssettings manually over to the HD400..
Either that or open up the HD500 software and copy all the parameter settings down on a sheet of paper..
Is there a reason why some don't have any sound or volume?
Check to make sure if it has a volume pedal in it .. it is not assigned to a footswitch.............
Johnny,
I just downloaded your church set list of patches for the HD500. Are they dialed in for direct to P.A. usage by chance? If so, what guitars were you using when you set up these patches (single coils, humbuckers, etc.). Thanks!
Wes
Praise the Lord.
Just make sure that you set your output mode to "Studio/Direct". This might change the tone
God Bless
