Quantizing looper recording in HD500

I have the POD HD500 and I was wondering if there was a way to quantize a recording when using the looper. Some loopers allow you to tap the tempo before using the looper. Then, when you hit the stop button, they automatically stop your recording at the closest beat (rather than the exact time you hit the button). This would make it much easier for me to use the looper without getting out of sync with my drummer.

This would be fantastic, but, it isn't how the HD operates (as far as I've been able to tell reading the manual and experimenting) it would be a great feature request though...

No - the loopers in the HD400/500 have no sense of tempo or beat. They simply record the audio they hear between the on/off triggers.

  Actually I would hate that unless it was defeatable...most of my loops aren't rhythmic at all, and I want them to start and stop in pretty specific places. I'd rather have the volume of the loop controlled by the exp pedal like in the M13 and DL4, though.

    Agreed. It would need to be a feature that could be turned on and off in the settings. But since the HD500 already has a looper and tap tempo capability, it seems like it would be fairly easy to add. Just a few extra lines of programming code.

      I definitely agree with you. I find stopping the looper by tapping with my foot not an easy thing to do and often can't keep the timing perfect. Woud apreciate this feature added.

  Tap tempo functionality would make the looper usable for live situations. Hard to build up the nerve to use it when you could potentially spend over a minute trying to get a good synced loop going. I can imagine the audience staring at me while I'm furiously tap-dancing on the pod. Not good times.

    To me, what makes the looper unusable in live situations is the fact that you can't control the volume of it with your feet, like you can on the M-series and the very old DL4. Hitting the looper in time just takes practice, but no practice in the world will get the exp pedal to control loop volume.

      i'm pretty sure you can do this... i havent tried though... just haven't needed to...
      but if it can't it ce2rtainly should.. and likely no reason it can't!
