has the JTV-59 switch been fixed yet???

To those of you who are receiving *new* JTV-59's, have *all* the factory defects with the switch size and tip color been fixed yet??

I'm talking about the switch being too small a diameter for the guitar and coming with the wrong color switch tip.  See the photo below:

In case you have trouble seeing it, the switch diameter is too small and not well centered on the cutout.  The switch tip is also the wrong color.  It is black but it should be cream.

i don't want to give any more details as I'm not sure how much info is confirmed yet (and I don't want to say something that may not be accurate going forwards).

But I spoke to Rich Renken a few weeks ago and he is aware of both the switch/washer size issue and the knob colour issue.  both are in hand and are being dealt with.

I would assume anyone with a complaint about this will get the chance in the not too distant future to ask for a replacement washer and switch tip (or even to have the guitar sent back to have the washer fitted by L6) but that's only my own guess and not actually something Rish said.

Sort of doesn't make sense when Line 6 says they "designed" a new switch. Maybe they "sourced" a new switch. One would think if they "designed" a new one they would have made it the same diameter so as not to have the above problem?

We designed a new switch. Not sourced. We used an off the shelf switch that our Korean factory hook us up with, but we had to design the part that switches the digital part of the Variax. And we did it in a hurry because of the failure. So we didn't get the creme knobs and the washer was small.  Again, this was only 42 guitars total. So it isn't widespread.

Are the model select switches inter changable? I am one of the lucky 42 but have not sent back to the factory yet as I live outside the US.

Since I am gonna xplant the guts any way, I would prefer a 5 way switch. I am LOVING messing with dual tones but having one switch select both mags and models is a pain.

Also I guess my point was the new switch was not designed from scratch or there would be no washer, tip issues.  I am glad they got it hammered out fast.

Re: has the JTV-59 switch been fixed yet???

I ordered a JTV-59CSB last June and received it in January, 2011 from Elderly Instruments.  The switch was defective and I returned it to Line 6 for replacement.  I got the guitar back within a couple of weeks.  The new switch had the too small washer and a black tip.  I contacted Line 6 through my support ticket and received a new washer and a new cream colored tip within a few days.  I also did not receive the correct wrenches with the original shipment.  Line 6 sent the correct wrenches within a reasonable amount of time.  I would have preferred that everything was perfect in the original shipment but I recognized that there might be some glitches with the early adopters.  Line 6 responded very promptly and courteously to resolve my issues.  So far I am very pleased with the guitar.  I truly sympathize with those of you still waiting and hopefully you will also be pleased with the guitar once you receive it.
