The funny thing was I didn't want to take the JTV with me because of the pickup selector being flakey. I had set up 3 patches on my X3L using both mags and models at the same time. We played only one tune to open a business meeting we had in  vegas. Most other companies open their meeting with power point, but we start it off doing a tune written, by one of our VPs, about our new marketing campaign. The "band" is made up of pretty much all directors, VPs and even the owner. Goes over well each year. It is a pain to travel with a guitar and X3L then rent drums, keys, amps etc etc etc for one song.

Any who. I wanted to take one of my gibson explorers so I A/B the JTV and the gibson. If I was using just one guitar tone on the JTV they are almost even with the Gibson a bit better because it has God Wood pickups in it. However if I used the JTV with models into one amp chain and mags in another. .  .it sounded better.

On the rythm stuff I used bridge humbucker for both mags and models but with each amp panned left and right with one delayed by 20ms. It still sounded better combining mags and models rather than picking either. For my short "solo" I had 2 patches that were dual SLO with one side going through a Q filter to get a parked wah sound. I used the neck pick up on the mags but position 4 on the modeled lester which I had set up as bridge/middle on a LP custom. It added a cool out of phase sound to the sound.

I am now totally hooked on dual tones but bummed because of some of the limitations we currently have. I can't do dual tones with anything except HD 500 or X3L. HD 500 is under powered for doing dual tones. I also can't go wireless when using dual tones.

I now use the HD 500 for connecting and routing the JTV, having a wah and maybe an FX or two before the dual amp chains of the Axe FX as well as doing the 20ms delay trick and not using up a delay slot on the Axe. I sure wish after all these years Line 6 would do a delay that could go BELOW 20ms. . . . lo.. . .

I have em mounted in "triple shot" pickup rings. Technically you can get 4 sounds out of the p rails. When you put the two coils together you can do so in series or paralel. Paralel is more open sounding sort of PAF like and series is fatter and darker.
