Vetta II Combo, turning volumeknob or volume on pedal reacts sluggish/slow

Hai All,

 

I have a problem on my Vetta: if I turn the volume, it reacts slowly. It looks like it reacts in "steps". Also the "Edit" button many times does not react at all so I can't edit any presets. Also my Variax can not be detected through the Vetta anymore? Anybody else had these problems? Should I do a factory reset or is there something really wrong/broken?

    Today I've done some resetting and re-installed the latest SW-release (from 2.50 to 2.50) via Monkey, reloaded part of my patches and tried tot edit the Variax. All were successfull. Looks like problem solved but keep fingers crossed.

      Two months went by and it looks like the Vetta is having the same problem again:

      After pressing the [Edit] button, the display blinks shortly and after that, [Edit] button is still lit but I can't edit anything. This is making me crazy. Looks like Ill have to do the same thing again: factory reset, reinstall firmware and put the patches in again.

      Any ideas what might be causing this?

        In the meantime I had the same problems again like before:

        - Volume knob reacts slow (like with some delay, in steps);

        - The [Edit] function on the amp doesn't work proper;

        - Some meters in the display are "moving" without any of the knobs being turned;

        - The sound at for instance G note played on lower E-string is like a synthesizer is mixed with the guitarsound;

        - On one patch I have a strong "ticking" sound that occurs if I play something.

         

        Was fed up with this and tried to step down in firmware to 2.11 because I did not have these kind of problems in 2.11. But .... Edit 3 won't work with it. So .... Vetta firmare back to 2.5. I will probably need a lower version of Edit but I remember that older versions were critical on the version of Java installed.

         

        After rewriting the firmware to the Vetta, for a couple of days it looks OK but then the problems return. 

        The Vetta remembers it's patches so it looks like the internal battery is still OK. Maybe I should have it replaced, just because it's in the amp for 6 years now.

         

        Does any of you have any idea what this problem can be and what to do about this?

          A couple of ideas:

           

          Have you checked the internal ribbon cables?  Maybe something is loose.

          Is your vetta getting clean power from the outlet?  Vetta amps are very sensitive to voltage fluctuations.  See my post here regarding glitches:

            Internal cables I will check as soon as I have some time to do that. I have disconnected them once to make a screwthreads in the amplifiers cabinet but I have checked them thoroughly after that. (See: http://www.vettaville.net/Vetta-Handles.pdf).

             

            Power: Did not know the Vetta was so sensitive to this.

            My house has 4 electricity "groups". The Vetta is on one that has some devices connected to it that could maybe cause small fluctuations in voltage or spikes as soon as they are switched "on", f.i. a coffeemaker, a watercooker and the ventilation system of the appartment.
            I have the Vetta for about 6 years now and although no new devices were introduced on this electricitygroup, there is one that now from time to time is switched on/off that formerly was always on: the ventilationsystem. About 2 years ago, I found out that this system uses a lot of energy (110 Watts). I'm not at home most of the time so now I switch it on only when needed. By the way, I never switch this while the Vetta is on but maybe this disruption can also happen while the Vetta is off (?).

            Maybe this, or one of these devices, is the culprit that causes my Vetta to get a little nuts. I will check for a voltage regulator to start with. I'll let you know as soon as this is done.

              I don't know about fluctuations affecting the vetta when it's off.  I will tell you that since i had the discussion about this with the technician, i have never plugged my Vetta into anything but the regulator.  Since then, i have not had to reinstall the software, which i did have to do a couple of times prior to that due to the "patch switching delay" (if you're not familiar with this,it is a known problem:   if it takes 2 to 5 seconds to switch from one patch to another, this is an indication that your software is corrupted, and it is resolved by re-installing the software.).

               

              I hope your problems are easily corrected.
