XD-V30 Element Shot After Four Months?

I bought an XD-V30 system through Amazon in April of this year and have only used it in my home. After not using it for several weeks, I switched on the mic this evening only to get an extremely loud screeching static from the amplifier, a Fishman Soloamp. Even with the channel's gain all the way down, the gain light flashes with the lightest touch to the mic. Static is all that comes through; not voice or any other sound such as tapping.
Here's everything I tried, all to no effect:
New batteries
Another mic transmitter channel
Unbalanced line out instead of XLR (same sound but no gain light)
The other amp channel
My Shure SM58 works fine directly connected with the same XLR cable.
Line 6 guitar wireless works fine on that channel. too.
Oh, and
Has the mic's element been fried?
Loose wiring in the mic ( I don't recall ever dropping the mic but I can't rule that out)?
If it's shot due to defective workmanship, is there any recourse available through Line 6?
It doesn't sound like the wireless at all if turning down the channel all that way doesn't stop the noise. Have you tried the wireless in a different system. If the wireless is to blame then you will have the same problem plugged into any system. You could also set the microphone and the Relay to the same channel. Do you still get the noise?
Stay in the mix and in the know.
