hey all, i downloaded the trial version of cubase to see if i dig it. ive set my pod up in the asio drivers and anything i have seen of relevance. i arm for recording but when i record distorted guitar track theres no playback. i am not used to this program so im sure there is a very innocent mistake here. im direct via usb monitoring with headphones, pod set to match studio direct, im beat on it, please advise me on how to set up pod in cubase, thanks guys
Have you tried asking this question in the Cubase forum? It seems likely that it's a Cubase setup issue rather than a Pod issue.
Are you sure that the track was recorded? Do you see the sound waves?
hey silverhead i appreciate the response, that sounds fair, ill ask on cubase, i can not be sure i recorded the track but i see the time bar roll and i think i armed it but no sound waves. thanks
If you don't see sound waves in the track after recording I think you may not be recording anything. Check the Record Inputs for the track in Cubase after you arm the track. Make sure you select the appropriate input from among the 8 availableRecord Send options in the X3. For instance, If you are using a single Tone patch in the X3, and you have Cubase set to record only Tone 2, well - that means you are recording nothing.
how do i set which tone to record? cheers
That's a Cubase question as far as the details go. But in any recording software, once you arm a track for recording there's a way to specify the audio source/input for recording the track. With the X3 there are multiple options. In Cubase look for a drop-down menu of some sort that is associated with the track after you've armed it. The X3 Record Send options should be visible; select one.
Hey bcrichboy08,
Sounds like you have everything on the POD X3 Live setup correctly. The second part of this is the setup within Cubase.
Thanks for your suggestions silverhead. As he mentioned, the principles of the setting up and arming a track are relatively the same but the specifics are different for each recording application.
If going over the basic steps silverhead provided to you didn't get you recording within Cubase, please reference the POD X3 Live advanced manual page 8-2 for USB recording setup and page 8-3 for the description of the sends of the POD X3.
In addition, please reference the POD Farm Recording Setup Guide to see how to configure the Cubase Audio Preferences for a Line 6 device:
