Hello!
I have a POD HD 500 and a Variax 300.
The POD HD 500 is not seeing the Variax300 with a VDI cable. In the settings, even putting the parameter "Variax Control" to "ENABLED" does not appear the additional parameters.
The Monkey also does not detect the Variax...the Monkey is at version 1.43, but also tried versions 1.41, with 1.10 and 1.31 firmwares of the POD HD 500.
Curiosities:
- The sound of the Variax works normally when connected to the cable VDI, but not in the configuration "GUIT + AUX + VARX CH1",
only the others who has the VARIAX works.
- I tried with or without batteries and with or without the input of the XPS Variax, nothing solved the problem.
- I tested with 2 different cables and other POD HD 500 also, in none of then the Variax was recognized...
- The Workbench software only sees my POD HD 500, but with a question mark...I can't use Workbench too...
I saw other threads with similar problems but none of the solutions worked for me.
I'm doing someting wrong? Or is some problem with my Variax?
Try plugging the TRS cable into the power supply and the guitar, at the same time as the VDI, and see if that solves the problem...

look in the vdi socket for any compressed or bent connectors. that would be on both the guitar and the pod.
The problem is simply power supply.
Plug the A-B Box used to power the Variax at the same time (using the VDI cable to program the Variax and selecting "Variax" in the HD 500 input option to hear the sound by the VDI cable) and everything will work.
If you don't use the additional power supply, intermitently will occur a problem (at least the sound quality will not be good). I am pretty sure that it is a problem in the POD HD 500 power supply capacity when using the VDI cable.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
