DockStubZ extender by CableJive worked for me perfectly.  Amazon carries it.

      Re: Hi! Mobile in

I bought the DockStubZ extender for my iPhone4 and iPad1 and got this message every time I plugged the Mobile In into the extender(s): "USB Device Not Recognized".  I have the latest iOS on all my devices. I've already spent over $50 on different extender cables and extenders and have had NO luck yet. They all claim to be full 30-pin passthrough. I don't like the way that the Mobile In hangs precariously off of the iPad. I hope Line 6 fixes this. My Mobile Midi unit works fine with an extender, but so far not the Mobile In.

Some cases are too thick to use with the Mobile In as you have already seen.  You would need to remove said case if that is a problem to use with the Mobile In device.  We do not suppor the usage of extender cables with the Mobile In.

    Best regards,
