My HD500 is SQUEELING and my eardrums are going to BLEED! I need help!

I've been editing my patches with my HD500 edit and occasionally my HD500 will go out of sync with the HD500 edit software and start an ear piercing squeel. This is really bad because I use a set of cans (Shure SRH440) at a reasonable level for my main editing and then I tweak the patch live. Obviously this is going to cause me some problems if it keeps happening because my eardrums are going to bleed!!!
Pulling the power to the HD500 is the only way to stop the squeel. Once it reboots, it comes back up and everything is okay except I've looked at several of the other posts and commented on one of them, but everyone seems to think that this is a because of a bad patch.
I don't.
The main reason I don't think this is a bad patch is that after the reboot the patch is up and running with no problems. I've tried rebuilding from scratch and it happens then also.
This isn't a problem with every patch build just an occasional problem. I think that for some reason the HD500 edit software and the HD500 going out of sync has something to do with it. I've noticed that sometimes even when not editing a patch that the software will go out of sync with the Pod.
Can Line 6 look at this and try to roll out a quick update to either the HD500 edit software or the Pod firmware to fix this?
I didnt have this issue until this most recent update and the squeal hits you at max volume no matter what you have volume set at and it is horrible ....had it only happen once but am afraid to use it on anything now but my cheaper earphones so I dont ruin other speakers.
I was tweaking patches and sending data when it happened soo maybe it is a sync issue?
I've just had this too (see my thread, HD500 dropping PC sound)
I'm starting to think the software is a dud. Which is a great shame because the unit sounds great aside from the crippling technical problems.
I just hope that Line6 can provide some real support and not let this carry on and on because they are going to lose so much respect that they've built up through years of innovation.
I hope they can do something about this too. I've noticed and been able to tell that when I change the preset using the software that it will stall right before this happens. But I'm really getting sick of it.
Alright I figured a work around, I think. I rolled back to the 4.2.2.4 driver and it appears to have fixed the problem. I've been working on many patches in the software and found that even if the patch get's corrupted (still a problem with the software and saving patches) it doesn't squeel. You guys try it and report your results.
So this is a driver/software problem for sure. Come on Line 6, I know you guys can recreate this problem and should be able to fix this with a driver/firmware update. There's definitely something wrong with the driver/firmware/software combination.
Come on, has anyone from Line 6 read this? Something is wrong with the current driver/firmware/software combination to make it keep losing sync and squeeling while I'm editing my patches.
did you guys try reflashing, uninstalling/reinstalling everything (monkey, HD Edit, Drivers). I've been using the same version you have (minus the rollback) and have no experience this issue at all on my four year old compaq laptop running XP.
Yes I've tried everything. Reflashing, resetting to factory defaults, uninstalling, reinstalling, etc. It keeps losing sync with the POD HD500 and then an ear piercing squeel at full volume in my ears.
I got my HD500 yesterday, today I updated to 1.4 and now I'm hearing impared. What you discribed happend to me 3 times within 30 minutes. I also recieved MIDI timeout errors in HDEdit.
Is line6 actually reading here at all?
Anyone having this problem should try rolling back to the 4.2.4.4 driver. This has worked so far for me. I just got off the phone with support who said running the latest driver on benefits people using the HD Pro. Give it a shot and tell me if works for you.
Yup, I also had this for the first time last weekend with the latest firmware. Similar reasons too, I changed something in HD Edit too quickly or something and bam, it squeeled like a Atlanta businessman on a canoe trip and it wouldn't stop till I reflashed the memory and started up in safe mode (startup with left arrow held).
It's a little concerning as I now feel I have to be super careful about using HD Edit, which is a pain as I normally never even bother with any of the controls on the unit itself apart from the wah/volume pedal and tuner.

LOL !! Anyone tried the HD500 with a banjo yet?
Sorry back to the thread .....
Make sure you are not putting the computer to sleep/standby with the POD HD500 still connected as this could possibly cause connection problems when you try to use that USB connection after waking the computer up. Disconnect the device before putting the computer to sleep/standby or just completely disable the sleep/standby function.

Please make sure you have tested all of your computer's USB ports with this problem and to completely remove ANY USB hubs connected to the system.

Nope sleep/standby is already disabled, happens on the motherboard USB, not using a hub. Tested on 3 different USB plugs. Tried a new cable, the problem is the driver. Crashed my system the other day when it happend. Here's the WhoCrashed dump analysis.
On Sun 12/11/2011 6:24:27 AM GMT your computer crashed

The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver which cannot be identified at this time.
