No this problem occurs with those latest drivers.  It's a real shame, after this happening I just don't want to edit sounds using Line 6 Edit over USB.

Ahh, looks like nothing is being done yet with regards to this issue. hmm just a question, you guys only hear the squeal when changing patches or ? cause for me, it happened only when i was editing patches with my HD 500 editor open. When i'm connected via USB for recording purposes it doesn't squeal at all. so maybe it's a HD editor thing?

I don't post much on here because I am typically pretty happy with every piece of Line6 gear I have owned, from the Vetta up to the HD500, but I am getting extremely FRUSTRATED with this issue.  I have had the issue randomly with the 1.3 firmware, but since the new update, it has been even more frequent.  I am right in the middle of tracking guitar for our band's 2nd album, and I have fried the inputs TWO of my PreSonus headphone preamps.  Yes folks, the db level of this squealing issue is dangerously high!  It does seem to be aggravated by changes while using the HD Edit software, or by starting and stopping recording frequently within my DAW software (Cubase 5).  I am using the 64bit driver on a Windows 7 PC, no hibernation/standby enabled, no USB hubs, and I am powering both the PC and the POD on furman power conditioners.  I have confirmed it happends on stock patches, as I have uninstalled/reinstalled drivers and flashed the firmware and restored factory patches several times.  I have also experienced the issue after unplugging the USB and just playing out of my amp, although I did not reboot the POD after unplugging the device.  Now I am S.O.L with my monitoring preamps and I am afraid to ruin any more of my monitoring gear while tweaking/recording with the POD.  I don't know what else to do...

Please Line6, take this issue seriously and put out a fix for this ASAP!

Seriously, this is getting unbearable.  It's happening every session now with HD Edit after about half an hour or so I get a midi transfer problem and then a few seconds later ridiculously loud noise, it's going to damage my Focal CM50 monitors at this rate

I'm not sure what to do, I love my HD500 but right now I can't use it with the computer (which is 99.99% of what I do with it).  It's a serious crimp and if I had the dough I'd just go and get an alternative at this point, sadly I don't so like everyone else here I'm stuck playing accoustic for now.

Please find a fix for this Line6!

Dunno bout everyone, but I'm running Windows 7 64bit.  It seems to be linked to HD Edit and some midi mesage problem.

I'm running W7-64 bit on my laptop... have this issue...  it happens with HD Edit connected but not necessarily active (i.e. making changes)...  It is most common/frequent when making changes with HD Edit though.

Line 6 please acknowledge this issue and let us know that you have the ball on this...  thanks

+1 I also have this issue. Occurred twice last night. I was in HD500 edit, and I started a fresh patch. No amps or fx at all. At no point did I ever actually assign an amp model or any fx to the patch at all on both occurrences.

I started by moving an empty fx slot into path A after the amp, and then another empty fx slot into path B after the amp. After that, I moved all empty fx slots from the left of the amp to the right of the mixer. At some point suddenly this patch reset itself and left me looking a patch with one empty amp slot with no second path, followed by the mixer, two empty fx slots, and a near heart attack due to the piercing brutality that rippled through my brain. I'm so happy I'm 25 years old with low cholesterol and no heart problems. Might be one less alive Line 6 user otherwise >:-/

Not going to bother trying older software releases with the evidence that it doesn't help. I don't know how much patience I have for something that nasty.

With this issue being a rather SERIOUS one, maybe Line 6 aren't responding due to the risk of providing incorrect advice, which could lead to legal issues or similar?

Man, and to think I really had this pedalboard figured out finally.

edit: to add,  I rebooted the HD500 and the horrible noise was still occurring when it rebooted, because for some reason the newly created patch was still in the POD's memory, although I'd never saved it. So I simply deleted the patch.

second edit: I have all the latest drivers/software for Line 6 Monkey and the HD500. That was a fun time upgrading, as my HD500 would no longer register as being connected to Line 6 Monkey. It kept coming up with the Windows "Found New Hardware wizard". I decided to go with the wizard and it found the new software that had been downloaded by Line 6 Monkey. Cannot recall the version number right now, but it was only a few days ago that I upgraded anyway.

Is there anyone out there getting this problem who is NOT using HD edit?

I have not experienced it but I do all my editing using the HD control panel and then primarily for effects only.  That probably makes me non-typical.
