xd-v75 and Heil rc-35

Hi
I had the xd-v70 system along with a rc-35 capsule from Heil Sound. Comparing it to the pr35 wired version I felt that it was kind closed off. I started searching and found this thread http://line6.com/support/message/280800 JessB states that after removing the -10db pad that is hardwired on the underside of the element, he got a better open sound.
This -10bd pad was intended to use with shure systems... I also read that that is less gain with third party capsules when installed to the xdv70
Ok, so I just return the the xd-v70 and ordered a xd-v75 and my question is: Has this gain thing with 3rd party capsules changed in this new version (xdv75) or is still the same? (less gain) I ask because I'm planning to remove the -10db pad on my heil capsule, but I want to be sure first. Are you aware of anyone else removing the -10db pad on the heil capsule and geting better results? Thx.
It has been changed AND there is now make-up gain of 12 dB available in the receiver. If you flash a V70 you will also get the same.
Thanks Mr. Boomer
So in my case you think its better to leave the -10db pad?
Depends on how loud your source is. You'd just have to try it both ways in your application.
Tks a lot Don. Just one last question. As I told you i just ordered the new xd-v75...when this unit arrives do I have to update it? or does it comes already updated? I was reading but im kind of confused. And how do I get notifications on future updates? Thx :)
XD-V75's come with the new software but you can always check by running Line 6 "Monkey". It will read the firmware version you have and then inform you if any updates are needed.
Ok...so I just received my xd-v75 system and I cant screw the Heil capsule. Looks like the handheld base is bigger than the capsule. When I had the xdv70 it fitted perfectly...is the v75 handheld bigger than the v70? or is it a problem with my particular unit? Thx
Thanks for everything Don :)

Xd-V75 and 70 are identical mechanically. They both use the same mic capsule.
Did the Heil fit on your V70?
Yes it did fit the xdv70...I took the v75 to the store, it definitely has a problem in the screwing part. We compared it with the v70 in the store and the Heil capsule fitted perfectly. So I returned it. Thx
seems like there is problem with manufactuing.
deffo..now i have me a V75 system ...with a Heil head that i cant use ??? cos mine dont fit properly either !!
The thread on the Line 6 V75 is shoddy workmanship.
took it back ...
The replacement works fine ..as it should !
Hi I sold my xd v-30 and purchased the new v-35.
What a disapointment!! The Heil capsule does not fit on this transmitter.
How is this possible?! And why do they advertise compatibility?
Just repeating part of my reply to the identical query that you raised in this discussion http://line6.com/support/thread/85586?tstart=0 several hours ago:
"...(the thread we're now in) ...makes me think that the individual handheld that's giving you grief may have a defect in its capsule mount, along the lines of those reported (and since rectified) by penluis and chrispeters29.
Accordingly, if the system that's now in question is new, I would think that any such defect is covered under warranty."
Indeed, this very discussion would also seem to vindicate claims that Heil RC-35 capsules are indeed compatible with Line 6's XD-V systems.
hi, I have the same problem with my xd v-30. it's impossible to get enough gain from any capsule
(tried sm58,beta58,beta87A,heil rc35). it only works properly with it's own head which is not bad, but a little thin and sterile. So what is the compatibility hype about when I can not use any of the listed capsules
on v-30 system. the last capsule I tried today is the heil sound rc35 (padded -10db). not enough gain and sounds lifeless.
so I want to know where is the problem?! in the capsules or in the transmitter? does it have some limiter
or filter? any help? greets
Hi all, I removed the -10db pad in the rc35 capsule and it is better now.
another question: Is there some upgrade available for the xd v-30 system.
I would remove the enviroment filter if possible. greets
Yes You could flash it with the new v2.0 firmware. You probably won't notice any difference in RF1 mode but will now have the option of RF 2 mode ... See faq
thanks mr. boomer
