Tried saving wav file of a song on a card to internal memory then just hitting record during solo break but can't get it to loop just that part of song.
I do this using Audacity. I copy and paste the section of song I want, say a solo to a new track, then delete the original, then save the section as a wav. Next I can transfer it to my SD card, upload in the amp and play it over and over. A little work but well worth it to me.

No, there's no way to set start/end points within a recording on these devices. You're describing something that needs to be done in a software program that allows you to set those value, much like a "sampler".
If you want to loop just a "section" to solo over, then that'll have to be to recording itself, because the looping begins at 0:00 and ends at whatever the last time frame when you hit Stop or Play on the unit.
