i've got a pod hd500 that i'm very happy with in the studio. i'm going to be going live soon and i need a multi-fx device for my amp. i'm wondering if were to disable the amp modeling on my POD HD500 and use just the fx, if it would sound as good/the same as an M13. i'm sure that from feature-standpoint the M13 would have more bells and whistles, but given that the effects in my HD500 already do everything that i need them to do, all i'm concerned with at this point is if the HD500 would be a sacrifice "sonically", or not. i'm also hoping the hd500 is capable of doing the four-cable thing. anyone?
The effects are the same - they use the same algorithms and sound the same. Getting all the levels right for the 4CM with the HD500 is trickier than with the M13, but it's not impossible. Once you have it setup correctly for one preset, you could do it for all of them pretty easily. The M13 definitely wins in the ease of use category, though.
+1 to phil_m.
phil_m's answer above is correct.
The POD HD500 features the same effect models as the M-Series effects.
