Volume spike question

Howdy friends,

Been using my HD500-DT50 112 combo now for a little while...very low hours and never moved around (just to set the scene).

I was playing the pair the other night with a passive Les Paul standard and all of a sudden, I get a HUGE volume spike...I mean huge! No patch changes, no static chances, wasn't touching anything but the pick and the neck.

Master volume knob is pushed in by the way.

Anyone else have this issue before?

I almost suspect the HD500 as I've had weird volume spike issues running it direct before (through PA with proper direct settings in place).

I've never had the issue with just the DT and the Power tubes are not likely the problem....but the combo of the two has now exhibited the same strangeness.

It's weird that I've had this volume spike issue now with both pieces.

I used to have that problem with the HD500, but they cured it with a software update a while back. If it's a one time thing, it's probably one of those computer gremlins and I wouldn't worry too much about it, but if it's happened more than that, I'd reflash the software of the HD and DT.
