Is anyone else sick of waiting for the firmware updates for JTV and HD500?

Any news or guesses when it is going to be released? Says first quarter of 2012. Am I correct in saying that april begins second quarter? These people better hurry up! I am tired of checking on it everyday lol. Anyone have any guesses to when they think it will be released?
End of 1Q12 is March 31. Anything earlier is a bonus.
I'm tired of waiting for Christmas, too. I know exactly when it's coming...... but I'm sick of the wait. Santa had better hurry up!! ![]()
Never even think about waiting for Christmas because I know when it's coming. This is different. Honestly I will contently wait another 3 months if that's what it takes to get it right, but now that they got me excited about the new features and I find myself checking daily to see if it is here yet, the only thing I ask for is that they communicate. We have this debate all the time so I will only speak for myself when I say that as long as they let me know what is going on and deliver a rock solid release in the end, I am fine.
I will say this as far as expectations go. Fair or not, based on all he previous experience I have had with the many Line 6 products I have owned, I have come to expect these updates. There are features that were not there originally that expect they will add. It's part of why I am a loyal Line 6 customer, it was part of the price they paid for that loyalty, so it is part of what I expected when I bought the HD500. This is especially true given the features that it doesn't have that the X3 did have.
My point is that while I am completely on the be patient side and appreciate the free features that Line 6 delivers, I don't subscribe to the shut up and wait indefinitely stance that some seem to take. Imagine us still being stuck on coming soon 3 months after the announcement with no communication whatsoever as to what that meant? Instead we have only had very minor grumblings.
If they aren't going to hit the end of March they should give a little status update right about now. I'm hoping the fact that they haven't means it is going to be released today. ;-)

I completely agree. Just keep us updated, that's all.
I read in a previous post of this thread that something about the "new 5 acoustic patches". Anyone on this thread have any of the previous Variax guitars? I do and still use them as well as my two JTV guitars and I can't imagine what Line 6 could do to further "improve" what they did with the VAST improvement the JTV acoustic models currently sound compared to the previous Variax?
Now I'm worried that in "improving" these sounds, it might actually make them "worse"?? I LOVE the acoustic models and I've already written over a year ago whenI got my first JTV that I thought the most improved bank was the acoustic bank. I said then as well that the least improved models in my opinion were the Rickenbacker electric 12-string models. They're certainly very useable with some EQ tweaking, but they were and are the least authentic sounding to the real thing in comparison to all the other models on the guitar.
Also - won't there be updates for EVERY new piece of the "Dream Rig"? They are designed to all work together, so wouldn't it make sense to update/upgrade ALL the parts of the "whole"? Just updating the guitar, or just the POD HD wouldn't seem logical since they are adding new functions between the guitar and the POD HD and perhaps as well into the DT amps.
Like everyone else, I'll just have to wait and hear what Line 6 does actually choose to do with this (or these) new update(s).

The website shows that the JTV and the HD500 are getting upgrades. There is nothing to upgrade for the DT amps that I am aware of yet.
Yes, having used the acoustic models extensively on my Variax 300's and for over a year on my JTV-69, I can honestly say that while I certainly saw a difference, it was not as revolutionary as I had hoped. That makes this update potentially one of the most exciting ones they have produced for all the Line 6 products I have owned.
If there is really a significant improvement in the quality of the acoustic models that will be an amazing upgrade.
No idea when updates are coming, but I'd rather wait for updates that work PERFECTLY than get ones that have bugs or glitches. Wouldn't you?
Just out of curiousity - is there anything "wrong" with the updates you currently have?
And what are you expecting these new updatea to have or do exactly? I would really like to know since I have no idea what is coming. Personally I'd like to see more guitar models, guitar pick-up models. Especially modeling a "Sustainiac" WITH ALL FEATURES, but I have no idea if this even COULD BE converted to a mathematical algorithym? This is one of many things I've asked for over 3 yeras ago.
I also want several amps BACK that have no been included with the new POD HD line. Especially the Soldano, the Missippi Criminal, The Marshall SIlver J, and dear lord please...the LOUDBOX or ANY OTHER Acoustic amp model. My Vetta, all pedalboards, including the X3 line have FOUR acoustic choices. I'd be happy with just ONE as the feature of going from Electric to Acoustic has been one of the best features (in my opinion) from the Variax line of guitars.
I have thes units and several others in the same product family, and I'm happy that they simply work. Are you not happy with how your gear works in it's current state?
You can get a good idea here http://line6.com/news/general/1199
Lots of new functionallity. Have fun.
There is nothing wrong with my firmware updates. But even though I love my jtv, I want the promised 5 re-done acoustic sounds. And I want the mic preamp, bass amp, and all the added goodness from the expanded connection possibilities of the jtv and hd500. Yes I want them to work properly so I understand the wait, but I don't think they should bait us along for such a long time. They should've only anounced these updates within 2 weeks of the actual launch of them, but I understand they have to give themselves a good time frame in case things need further testing. Just sick of waiting! Lol.
lol, you should have been here when they FIRST announced the jtv. you woldve been raging. but it was my experience on the wait for jtv to be patient about the updates. ill be glad if the updates hit before 2013! just dont wreck yourself looking at the page everyday. i just liked them on facebook and thats usually how i find out when something new is out.
'just don't wreck yourself lookingat the page everyday.'
Really should follow your advice. And I should know better, since I have been standing in line for the jtv's as well...
Needless to say, but these updates for jtv and pod hd just seem awesome, it just feels like getting new gear. For free.
Wait no longer, it has arrived. Be sure to notice that they post a reminder to back up your custom banks/models before you update.
Too bad I am at work til late tonight!!! Tomorrow will start my filming for the JTV acoustic old vs. new models! Hopefully should have a video for it by the weekend, Lord willing.

That would be awesome Christian! I'm excited.
Your playing was great on this morning's video. I think you are the perfect candidate for giving us a comparison of the before and afters of this firmware update.
If possible, you might consider recording it directly versus through the Zoom mics (or maybe try doing it using both methods), so that the difference becomes that much clearer.
Thanks Zeddd! Thanks for watching. Means a lot especially because this is my new youtube page and I'm trying to get it up and running quickly. Every view/like/thumbs up/subscription matters so thanks!

Don't worry, I got you covered. That was exactly what I was gonna do. You just wait and see. I got my plan for how it's gonna turn out. This JTV has a lot of options so just keep checking your youtube for the video. Thanks again for the support and share the videos around the forums or wherever else you'd like if you can. I'd appreciate it sooo much.
One thing I was wondering was if this would be a complete replacement of the previous 5 acoustic models, or if the new models would just be added alongside the old ones (thus leaving both as an option to choose from). The answer is that this is a complete replacement of the previous 5 acoustics.
It is a replacement
