POD HD PRO - digital clocking problem

I have some problems regarding digital output for the pod hd pro. I have the pod connected to a Profire 2626 interface using spdif and usb running directly to the daw. I´ve managed to get everything working with analog outputs but I would really like to go digital now. My goal is to record the dry signal digitally on the daw and then use the spdif to re-amp the signal later.
How do I change the pod to clock from an external device instead of using internal clocking? According to the manual it is best if the pod handles the clocking internally but from this I assume that I can change the clocking-mode on the pod too. Does it depend on the order in which the devices are turned on or something like that? I´ve not been able to find this information in the manual.

Because the Pod doesn't support clocking on Digital Input, so you MUST clock your Profire 2626 as slave. I hope for you that you can set your Profire 2626 as SLAVE.

The pod does have a SPDIF input and I have both input and output hooked up to the profire.

Yes, but not for clocking. There is no parameter for changing from master to slave with the pod. It is only master.
yeah ok. hmm, are you sure about this? According to the manual it is BEST if the profire handles clocking, it doesn´t say required. But yes, I think you may be right about this.
