Serious problems with a new DT25 Head - it's normal?

The mode "clean" is almost completely unusable (both assigned to channel A and channel B), polluted by a kind of annoying overdrive - not a normal tube soft-click - in the background at any level of gain.

Also for what concerns the mode "clean," with a low gain is usable only in "low volume mode" ... if you switch to the normal volume, the clean low-gain (for example 25-30%) do not feel at all ... instead os increasing the volume

is no longer heard ... and so you have to raise the gain almost to 50% to hear something!.

Topology I (the cleanest) is normally run with the Volume (not the Master) on that channel very high (100% is not uncommon) and the Drive is set very low. This gives the absolute cleanest sound. If you are still getting any distortion you may have a problem with your amp, cables, pedals, or guitar.

You may also need to re-seat your power amp tubes. With any tube amp there will be some background hiss. If the tubes moved at some point during shipment you may get additional noise that is unintended.

    Yes, you can open the amp without voiding the warranty. Don't do more that pencil test the tubes and/or try to re-seat them.
    
    This is what I'm saying your Clean channel should look like. Topology I, Class A/B, Pentode. Control the volume with the Drive knob, not the Volume knob.
    
    You have to remember that in LVM the DT is using the Full amp model (not just the Pre-amp) so if you were able to look inside the programming you would probably see the "Master" setting at 100% (like in a POD HD- page 2 of the Amp; Edit) which does increase the overall volume considerable. I have heard other DT-25 users having the same issue, but not DT-50...... yet.

    I had the same problem and replaced valves! Problem solved!!!! My Dt25 head only have about 2 months! Valves are lamps...we never know when they will be gone...years or days...

      Actually new quality Valves/tubes with normal wear and regular usage should last years... At least, most Fender amps do/did...
      
      If we were to put the cheaper quality tubes in however, all bets are off... Just saying you should get what you paid for...

        It depends on what could hapen to the amp...roodies treatment, low quality on AC power, energy breaks, and so on! There are lots of things they may be not seem to be a reason to a valve disfunction and they are!

        True, rucademoura... We humans can break anything given enuff time...
        
        But with general use and normal abuse the tubes should on avg last more than a few weeks.
        Exchanging below is a good idea... If you can.

If you got it at a local store have them exchange it for another one. My first one was a dud as well. If you bought it online consider opening a support ticket with Line 6. If it is just the tubes you judge whether or not $40 some odd dollars should be spent repairing a new piece of equipment. Shipping does all sorts of things to sensitive electronics. These are built well but not for bumping around (note lack of metal corners).

I have just replaced the original tubes and had it biased by a tech. Big difference!
