Used Pod XT Live Issues

I recently purchased a used Pod XT Live and was super excited about starting to use it. After playing with it for some time I found that there is no ESN or USB Driver Version number on the unit. From what I understand it will need to go to a service center to be repaired. The strange thing is that once I installed the USB drivers and everything from monkey. Monkey and the Line 6 License Manager are able to read an ESN for the device. Is that normal? I thought maybe if I upgraded the flash memory version with a USB to MIDI cable that would help but it did not. Also the only Line 6 service shop in my area sounds like a mom and pop type electronics store. If they are shown as a Line 6 repair shop should they be able to fix this up without a problem?
Many repairs are a simple case of swapping out a board. If they're an authorised service centre then they'll be authorised to do that work.
Cheers,

I never realized you replied to this! Thank you for the answer. Any idea what that would cost?
