HD500 Flash Memory upgrade fail

I've been trying to upgrade the firmware for my HD500. Monkey has updated my drivers and Edit software ok, but when it updates the Flash Memory I get the error - "Failed to open downloaded file. Reason: (Code 80001019) Unrecognized file type."

This is particularly annoying because the Edit software won't run until I've upgrade the firmware. Basically I stuffed... or I have to use the hardware to edit my patches.

Anyone have any helpful hints on how to get around the problem?

My firmware is currently on version 1.20. and I'm running on Windows XP.

Re: HD500 Flash Memory upgrade fail

Please read carefully, here come many important hints!

You can download the flash memory manually from here, but first you must be logged in.

    http://line6.com/software/index.html

    Choose HD500 / Flash Memory / Your OS (e.g. Windows 7).

Then download and save the file local on your hard drive.

Have you already installed the newest Monkey1.5.3 and driver 4.2.5.4? Now it is time to do so.

Before installation of the driver, you must disconnect the HD500 from USB!!!!!!!!! If you will be prompted to connect, you can reconnect!

Please use HD Edit to save your presets. You should save each Setlist, because between v1.20 and v2.02 there has come a new factory setlist you would like to see.

But you can also save the current bundle.

Now you can upload the firmware to your pod over monkey manually:

Click on "Flash Memory" (tree on left side), then "UPDATE FROM FILE" (right grey button) and choose the downloaded file.

Follow the instructions, choosing NOT to keep your presets. You will reload them later over HD edit again.

Don't forget to do the "global reset" and "pedal calibration" finally.
