M9 - model effects don't save

Let's say I change to Tube Screamer and turn the Drive all the way down. I then turn the 'model select' to the right to Overdrive, then go back. The Drive is now back to some preset setting.
Why is it not saving my presets when I change? Or is it just locked into the defaults?
See video for a demo of the problem:
You need to actually 'save' changes. Otherwise, they are discarded as soon as you make a new selection. Hence, when you reselect a previously used model without having saved the changes, it resets to default values.
There are two Save modes on the M9: AutoSave and Manual Save. Here's a therad that discusses them:

.... and there's always the manual......
I am in Autosave mode. Did you watch the video? I am not switching to a different effect, I'm just turning the Model Select on the same FX.
I know you are not switching to a new FX - you are just switching models within an individual FX. That's where the confusion lies.
The Save features (both AutoSave and Manual Save) apply to Scenes - not individual FX. When you switch Scenes in AutoSave mode, then return to the previous Scene, it will be in the state you left it, including recent changes. When you switch Scenes in Manual Save mode, then return to the previous Scene, it will be in the state you last Saved it, having discarded any unsaved changes.
In your case, as you state, you are not changing Scenes - you are changing a selected model within an individual FX within a Scene. So when you select a different Model within the same individual FX, there is nothing to Save because you haven't changed Scenes. Because you are still in the same Scene AutoSave is now prepared to remember/save your new model selection within that individual FX within that Scene; it discards the previous model and the changes to it. When you go back to the previous Model (still within the same individual FX within the same Scene) the default values of the Model are reapplied.
See manual pages 4-3 and 4-4. Also, you may find the Effect Copy feature useful (page 4-6).
thank you for the detailed response!
You're welcome. I hope you can get things to work predictably now, and be able to save what you want when you want.
