Hum with Pocket POD and POD HD500

Hi
I own both of these units and am experiencing the same issue with both of them. When using power from a wall socket (using recommended adaptors), I get a noticeable humming noise. When Itouch something metal on my guitar or the units the hum is reduced. Also, when I connect the units to my computer via USB, the hum is greatly reduced.
I have tried several guitars and cables and the problem persists. I think the problem is either with the units or the ground in my house electrical supply. However I cant see how it is the house as the problem goes away when I connect to a computer via usb.....the computer uses the same power source!
Please help !!
Thanks
I strongly suspect that it is the circuitry in your house rather than both devices. It may be very localized - have you tried using different electrical outlets throughout your house? Can you test it in another house/location?
You may need a power 'cleaner'. I don't know exactly what they're called but there are products that will eliminate hum.
Thanks for response. But why does hum reduce when connecting via usb?
Sorry - I just don't know about that.
Update: I have tested all sockets in my house and all are earthed correctly. Problem must be with earth in the Pocket POD and HD500? Can anyone from Lie 6 advise?
I am definitely no expert but I I have a pocket pod (which I love) and the same thing happened to me re loud hum, but I changed the fairly high maximum output mains adaptor for a low 300ma maximum one I got with a zoom pedal, and the hum went away! It shouldn't make any difference what the maximum amp load is, and maybe that wasn't even the problem, but using a different adaptor totally cured it - why I don't know, but maybe it's worth a try..?
I get same humming with my pocket pod, but it appears to be an earthing issue with the unit, as mine appears when the amp plug is in
