Yes, you're right. But you can control the MIDI ports on your windoze. So - MidiOX is probably more simple.

I'm sure that people will share config files that can be loaded into midi-ox too...
the settings are "sticky" so unless you reset it to factory your changes keep...
so not like you "need" constant control.

No problems here. I am used to configurate devices via MIDI.
But I would like a tiny Toy for my android. - I keenly hate things starting with a little i followed by a capital.- Report Abuse

Has anyone tried installing the update yet? How long did it take?

the update doesn't take very long, it's a small file.

Yes. No problem with the update. Used a Cakewalk UM-3G as interface.

Cool! Wish my amp was back from the shop! Still waiting for a replacement power transformer from Line 6.
Anyone know what this means from the release notes?
- Configure XLR Direct Output Mic Emulation
Also, just to be sure, if I use my HD500 into my DT50, these features probably don't get me anything more than before, right? They are geared towards standalone amp use without an HD?

yes geared more to standalone use...
the configure xlr thing, means that you can use different mic emulations on the output now.

I was hoping you'd say that! But I'm still confused. If my HD uses PRE amp models, it doesn't control cab and mic modeling, right? So to use this new XLR config feature, sounds like I would need one of the following:
1) HD with FULL models, or
2) HD with PRE models and a MIDI controller/software, or
3) MIDI controller/software only
Does this sound right?
And would it be correct to say that, prior to this update, the XLR mic emulation was already controllable when using the HD with FULL models (that is, #1 above)?

It is like it was before with the HD. These setups only work with the HD and are temporary on the DT.
If you disconnect L6 Link DT goes back to its own configuration. This "permanent" confoguration for the DT alone can be changed by CC changes via a MIDI connection.
That makes sense with the MIC configuration too because the speaker and the microphone are simulations on the XLR out and for mixing purposes.
Hope I am right, but it only makes sense this way.- Report Abuse

yeah... none of this new stuff affects the HD integration.. other than the internal corrections...

other than the internal corrections...
Very mysterious
Does this mean that when I select a pre-amp model on the HD, there is now some internal adjustment in the DT power amp settings (other than the topology settings)?

Wow, this is great news. I bought my DT-25 last Friday and was happy with the standard 4 models and had just started to look into the MIDI switching. I've got a Behringer FCB1010 MIDI footswitch that has been gathering dust under my desk - it's now all cleaned up. I'll update the firmware tonight and start experimenting with the MIDI. There's some great models now available that I'm familiar with on my X3L.

As the HD500 is also a MIDI Controller, I guess you could use the L6 and the MIDI interface in paralellel to control the DT settings, e.g. if using a no amp patch or switching the amp model off to use channel B in the DT?
Does this work?
