Could someone explain how this works with a POD HD500 specifically:
1. Does this mean now that all selected amp in the pod HD500 can now be heard as a new voicing in the DT25?2. Are we still supposed to use the preamp models for patches over Line 6 Link?
3. Does selecting a particular reverb effect in an HD500 patch now set the reverb type in the DT25
4. Will these other settings like:
- Any 1 of 4 Negative Feedback Loop configurations
- 12ax7 Normal or Boost
- Feedback Capacitor Tight or Loose
- Phase Inverter B+ Voltage High or Low
- Any 1 of 17 Cabinets
Be configurable via the POD HD500?
Don't get me wrong I love the flexibility that the dream rig affords me, but calling it a dream rig when you have to buy a new usb midi interface to update the firmware on the amp and potentially not being able control these new parameters via the HD500 makes it seem somewhat less dreamy and by dreamy I mean integrated!Oh and I think it's about time Line 6 publishes a definitive manual on how to set this dream rig up once and for all, instead of relying on the benevolence of users/customers to help newbies get to a point where they are happy with the sound it produces and access to the patches like the ones on the Andertons youtube videos.

there always was.... but the corrections pertain to certain amp models where the boost was sent as off and should have been on.. i think that's in the notes....
there's always other details etc that aren't published... but more than likely all of them have to do with power amp configuration and not pre-amp....

1. you could always do this... with a pod HD... now you can reprogram those voisings for standalone access with the amp itself.
2. yes
3. no, but you can use midi to setup the reverb choice for the topologies that will be accessible in standalone mode.
4. no, those settings are for use with the amp "standalone" to build your own new amp models within the DT amp
it's not a dream rig update... nor does it change anything particular with HD integration....
it's an update for the standalone amp...
if you're happy with the sound now... you're certainly free to not update...
there really isn't much in the update for dream rig users... it's an amazing update for standalone amp users.
having said that... there's nothing to lose by updating either... don't overthink it... besides you can also rollback the update if you don't like it....
but the update is pretty seemless, so i doubt you'd notice much difference, without reconfiguring the amp with midi and using it standalone.

Thanks "The Real Zap" appreciate the quick answers.
I'mpissed because I played a PA only gig last week, sad to say even after ALOT of tweaking the POD HD500 just didn't sound great through the PA. The annoying thing was my cheapy zoom G3 sounded great with almost zero tweaking. There's just such a huge difference in sound between using a POD HD500 through a PA, or with another amp and then with a DT25. I just wish that the POD HD500 was clever enough to configure itself better and get a decent tone faster based upon different situations. Then there would be less need to tweak it so much. The same applies to the effects in a patch too it could be smarter depending on the output mode.
I'd advocate a new output mode called DT which is specifically set up to manage the dream rig set up. Also, why on earth can't you control the master volume of a DT amp via the pod hd?
Finally, why not have a dream rig mode too which actually intelligently allows you to change the volume/tone/drive of the amp model via the variax guitar (done cleverly so that things like presence/mid/treble/bass change as the volume changes) .
All I'm saying is take better care of the people that invested in the whole rig. Don't get me wrong, it's great technology and unique in many ways.... but it could be truly fantastic. For standalone amp users sure it's a great update, but remember it's also yet another reason that dream rig investers didn't need to buy the whole rig to get all the tones.

Can't you do that already by assigning knobs on the Variax to control parameters in the HD?

Also, from what I understand, there are other "things" included in this update that correct and/or enhance other "things" in the DT - "behind the scenes" stuff. Soooo.....it might be a good idea to update regardless. My "terminology" is just a way of communicating about "stuff" that I am still learning!
Now, if I can just figure out this MIDI stuff with my iphone - after I get this MIDI Mobilizer - I'm asking Santa!!!

not much to figure out... once you get the mobilizer, the touchosc app, and the templates from this site...
changing things become touch screen easy!

Isn't that exactly the point, yes it can........ so why does it require you to watch a 20 minute video tutorial and an hours tweaking after that to get it working nicely (in a useable way). It's just really easy to say 'Dream Rig' and promote the shiznet out of it, but with the considerable resources available to line 6 why not make it truly integrated. Obviously being able to do just that is a selling point why not make it easily achievable?

Don't know what you're talking about.
Plugged my JTV Variax in the HD and connected this with my DT25. It works seemlesly. I can control even every parameter with the volume and tone knob of my variax without looking any video. It is impressing how easy it's to configure regarding the complexity of the system.
Line 6 is not responsible for people getting overstrained by this.
Probably you should consider to get another system.- Report Abuse

I keep getting an error message like 80000A. Weird because I've updated the DT25 previously with the M-audio midi sport uno or whatever it's called. Can't seem to get this update working.....

first thing i would do is make sure you are using the drivers direct from the m-audio site...
the windows drivers aren't reliable. you might also try swapping the in/out on the cables...
i'm sure you checked etc... but sometimes it's that simple.

Check that your MIDI IN and MIDI out settings are for the Uno and not windows. If I forget, I get that error. If I change 'em, it works. Not sure if that's the problem, but it worked for me.

Hmm, I tried the update last night, and it failed half way through.
Now the DT50 head won't power up properly. The lights just turn on but no relay noises, it produces no sound and none of the switches respond......
After some testing, it appears my Uno my be faulty and intermittant, I'll go buy a new one today in the hope that I can force an update.
Any suggestions?
