Pod HD Pro Connection Error

I just bought a Pod HD Pro from Zzound's B-Stock meaning it had been opened before and/or refurbished.
When trying to connect it via USB I get the error message from Monkey: "The Pod HD Pro you are connecting to is not valid Line6 Hardware".
I updated both Monkey and the USB drivers and tried again, still getting the same error message.
I also tried registering it on the Line6 website through my account and it tells me that the SN is wrong... "ESN could not be verified. Please confirm the supplied USN. ( Error: 523)"
Can anyone tell me why this might be happening and what I need to do? Thanks
UPDATE:
I got it to connect in line6 Monkey, but the ESN shows to be all zeros... I read somewhere that this means it has to be sent back?
Hey man, start simple for sure!
1) Make sure Line 6 Monkey is up-to-date
2) Un-plug the POD from the computer and shut it of - turn it back on
3) Try a different USB port (I had the same problem and did all of these - plugged it into the usb port on top of tower instead of in front and it worked)
Yes - an ESN of all zeros means that the device has been tampered with - usually this means it was repaired improperly/incompletely. Take it back to Zzounds (if you have a return period) and have them reinstall a proper security chip (Electronic Serial Number).
If it can't be returned you will need to have it repaired at an authorized Line 6 service centre.
