Workbench Interface doesn't "see" my guitars

I have an older workbench interface that has been updated with the newest firmware. My computer iMAC also has the latest workbench update.
The software boots up fine and it communicates with the Workbench interface but the interface doesn't recognize my Variax. I have two, an older one and a new one. I tried 2 different cables; the one that came with the guitar and a plain ethernet cable and neither worked. The LED stayed red. I think its a bad interface although I have only used it maybe 4-5 times in the last 5 years. Anyone have an idea before I buy a new interface?
Thanks

you have to run line6 monkey to get the interface to work properly
Hello,
You have tried two interfaces ans neither of them communicate with your Variax?
If that is the case then the Variax may be the problem. Perhaps the digital jack on the guitar is failing.

I have similar problem before, the LED connected to the Variax always stay in "red" and I think it's the Variax problem. However, after I power the Variax with the foot switch and with the adapter instead of the battery, it works perfectly fine. You can try it out see if it solve your problem.

the one thing you never do is use workbench under battery power. its in the instructions. luck must be with you my friend.
if the jack is failing go to neutrik .com they sell them and have a distributor list on site.
What do neutrik list them under? My Variax is doing exactly the same thing, it's immensely frustrating. It happens even though i'm using the pedal to power it. Tried reinstalling Workbench to no avail
there in the product section under audio.
Ah, great, these would be the ethercon RJ45 connectors? Do you happen to know which type I need?
im not sure best i can do is a photo of the one in your guitar. go to parts express type in rj45 go to page 9. what id do is remove the 4 screws and pull out the plug holder and look for a matching number on the back ot sides. ive included a photo. probably a number on the pcb board i opened mine and the numbers on the board are as follows mg1 rj45 revb pn 35 00 0160 5004 id remove the plug from its mount to see if there are more numbers on the plug sides. these dont match neutric numbers.
they have an email contact on there site and theres also phone numbers on there web page. parts express phone numbers are 937-743-3000 ext 131 or 800-338-0531 ext 131
if you get the correct part number please post it for others thanks
I've got vg1 rj45 rev b, p/n 35-00-0160. There's a C stamped on it and what looks like SOE E on the pcb. Nothing else I can decipher and nothing matches neutrik [art numbers. I'll drop them an email and see what happens
unless they have one with the sme pcb bord youll have to buy just the connector and remove the origonal from the board and add the new connector. are any of your connectors in the rj45 lower than the others. someone else had that problem and made a little puller out of a bread tie to pull them back up again.
