volume control faulty

Hi guys,

Just bought a second hand spider valve mkII from eBay. Tested it when I got home and like all eBay purchases it's faulty. The volume control crackles abd pops, gets loud and quiet all by itself. I imagine the pot is broke but when I contacted my tech he told me he refuses to work on line 6 products. Is this a common fault, can I repair myself and if not are there people

in the south west of the UK who could?

You could try and spray some DeOxit in the switch first. It's about 20 bucks a can, or solder in a new switch. I think the pot is a fairly generic one from things I've read about it on here awhile back.

I find it fairly ridiculous that a proper tech couldn't/wouldn't change a friggin pot for you no matter what brand of amp.
