JTV 69 / HD 500...howling ?

I own a JTV 69/HD500 and on some patches there is a high pitched howling/feedback sound until I palm mute. I use Elixir lights for strings which I switched to recently. I also experienced this howling with Ernie Ball Cobalts. Could it be the strings?

 

  Any thoughts or suggestion would be appreciated
